Merry-Go-Round's definition as an activity and movement that never seems to get us where we want to be, gives you at the same time the feeling of describing our daily life.
That this is meant as an amusement contributes even more to the cynic description.
Now I have found some very special Merry-Go-Round in the french city of Nantes, made by some fanatics.
They call themselves "MACHINES OF THE ISLE OF NANTES" and intent to bring back to live the industrial background of the city.
One of the attractions is a 3 store Merry-Go-Round with beasts from underwater fairy tales that you can embark on a tour. Bigger than life and made out of wood and steel...a real paradise for steampunk fans.
If you don't like to go under water you can also ride on an elephant that is 12 meters high and about 8 meters wide...only you have to be careful not to get wet when he sneezes.
Here's a link to their homepage if you want a closer look :https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/en/
No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go.
