Hello dear steemians .. As you know we are making a trip through America, trying to know as many places as posible, also people, cultures and flavors. We leave from Argentina, our home country, and at this moment we are in Bolivia.
In today's post..
Sucre!!
Route from Villazón to Sucre
Sucre is the historical and constitutional capital of Bolivia. Due to its history, architecture and culture, it was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.
This monolith is located in Plaza 25 de Mayo. The photo is not good, sorry!
We arrived on 9/10 at approximately 7am. The trip lasted almost 11hs. The tickets cost us 40Bs each. We were tired, dirty, without having any hostel reservation in advance, both with little battery in our cell phones, also the terminal of Sucre is very neglected, not cute at all and all these aspects were forming an interesting combo.
We found a cell battery charger machine at 1Bs for 15 minutes, and we shared the charging time a little each. Meanwhile Sonia appeared, the owner of a hostel in the center of the city, she gave us a map and a discount for the satying, however we started to walk and we went to other hostels to compare prices, but at the end we end up at Sonia's, Hostel Cadena which was definitely the best in price and quality. The cost of accommodation was 40Bs per person, per night, in a private room with double bed and shared bathroom.
Newly arrived in Sucre, on the way to the hostel.

After getting settled, taking a bath we went to see the Central Market because we needed food. It was amazing for us the variety of potatoes and fruits that we did not know.
Some potatoes that we buy.
We were also struck by the way the meat and chickens were exposed, placed on counters outside of refrigerators, which generated mistrust. We buy various vegetables, rice, oil, condiments, fruits, different types of potatoes, nuts, salt and bread for 100Bs.
A meat stall.
Another photo in the Market. In this my face of happiness when returning the glass of strawberry juice and blackberry (6Bs),refill included!
In the afternoon we went to visit the center, Plaza 25 de Mayo, La Casa de la Libertad where the independence of Bolivia was signed on August 6, 1825, the Government Palace. It is a very beautiful city, very colonial, with small sidewalks and cobbled streets.
25 de Mayo Square
National Palace. It was built to function as a presidential house, but after the Federal War, the Government Headquarters was moved to the city of La Paz.
They recommended us to go to the Mirador de la Recoleta, and when we notice it was duskng we imagined that the view from the lookout must be very beautiful ... the road was uphill and the city of Sucre is at about 2800 meters above sea level , this data I add it because given our hurry to get to see the sun hide behind the mountain from the viewpoint, we walked pretty fast, we even ran to get there and we suffer of mountain sickness !!! ( mountain sickness: physical discomfort that is generated by the difficulty of adaptation to low oxygen pressure at high altitude). In Bolivia it is called Sorocho but we were saying Sorococho for a long time !!
Kevin on the climb, here he was walking because he was pursuit by a dog so he couldn't keep running hahaha .. but until that point, until the dog appeared, he ran! What a will!
It was totally worth it, from the Mirador you can see almost the entire city of Sucre and enjoy one of the most beautiful moments of the day as it is the sunset, and then the city at night with all its lights .. At this moment we accompany you with a beer and a bite!
Another photo not so good, but that reflects that precise moment
And our happiness, because in addition we had already overcome the mountain sickness.
Well, this is just the first part of our days in the City of Sucre .. we will keep going up !! Hopefully you have enjoyed!!
Kevin and Dani
