Travel Pro On The Move #2: Mancora Peru to Lobitos Peru (Video)

in travel •  7 years ago

Hey there my Steemit friends! So I'm transitioning over into videos! I think they are only going to get better and better as I get used to doing them. So thank you for supporting me as I work through this new learning curve. I've decided to go video as I simply am finding it impossible to live Travel Pro these days!

Which is making for a very sad Travel Pro :( Frankly I've had very little time to travel and enjoy myself as I've gotten consumed with writing, taking photos, editing photos, and organizing them into posts; as well as replies, networking, and simply having to take care of myself.

Videos are like one shot BAM! Done! Upload and post. It's a time saver of enormous proportion, and I'm actually starting to enjoy doing the videos, and the quality of coming videos will show that for sure. At least how much more relaxed I am speaking into the camera.

Holding the camera steady I'm still working on that. But as you know, when you're with me you going to get a major download of travel information in every post. So stay tuned as your support is greatly appreciated. In this new video series you're going to see exactly what it's like to travel the world along side of me. This series will specifically document the traveling part.

Besides all that I'm very much about being personal on here and what better way to be personal than in video. Where you can all really see who I am, what I'm like, and how I live Travel Pro! So I think these videos are a total win win for all!

You'll see how some A to B movements go perfectly smoothly; and in this video you'll see how sometimes they do not! No major major hiccups this travel venture, in the video you'll get to see me a little frustrated and how I deal with it.

We are going from Mancora to the town of Talara two hours by bus, then changing over into a van to get to Lobitos where we'll meet up with steemit member @intrepidsurfer! So come along and let's get on the move!

This is the landscape in this northern part of the Peru near the coast. Very suny, dry, and desert like. If you just watched the video, I kind of forgot to capture my arrival to Lobitos. But I'm getting on the ball with this and it's going to get better that's a promise! Hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much! -Dan "World Travel Pro!"

ohhh...i like this video. Very much like it ,,,,,and congratulations on going video style - much more fun to watch. I think I will put you on my autovote list - so none is missed anymore. Not always enough time to read/watch all what is on my feed here

Wow! This is the kind of encouragement I need most. I'm technically still a minnow even at 64 rating. This is what every hard working steemit content creator wants to hear from someone like you! So thank you so much! It's greatly appreciated and very encouraging. I'll certainly stick with. Have a great day! -Dan

Great video, enjoyed it.

Awesome! So good to hear. Thank you!

very interesting to learn about the communication styles in s america and also in comparison to asia. it does sound frustrating, I know that kind of thing would get old quickly no matter how flexible a person is!

something i'm curious about as a viewer is to see how much luggage you travel with as you go around the world and what you bring, what you buy and shed along the way, how many lbs do you aim for (if that's a consideration). I'm always interested in the logistics that go along with traveling as a way of life!

Also, you mentioned @intrepidsurfer as your travel companion, and I found myself wanting to see a glimpse of him somewhere in the video too just to get the feel of the whole experience.

It will be great to learn more about your experiences via video since this format allows for a different kind of information to be communicated, have a wonderful day!

Haha! This is so crazy! So I have a blog series if you dig into my blog all about what I travel with. "Travel Pro Gear" All together my bag is about 30-40 lbs. Hard to say exactly. I travel real light and simple. I also have a post from several months ago called "main bag" "day bag" "laundry bag". Which is basically showing how I orginize my life. Everything fits into the backpack "mainbag"

Then I have a small backpack that I go around exploring locations with. Then I have just two plastic shopping bags for clean clothes and dirty clothes.

What cracked me up about your questions is that each one is answered in my blog or is about to be answered!

Tomorrow morning I'm posting an interview I did with @intrepidsurfer. He's not a travel companion. He lives in Lobitos Peru, has his own apartment and everything. It was just a steemit meet up of two! He's a great guy easy to get along with. Well traveled too by the way.

And regarding the logistics you mentions. I just posted a huge 40 minute educational video of how I planned the next 10 weeks of my trip buying 10 plane tickets bringing me from Peru, to patagonia, to Uruguay, Chile, Argentina to Florida, all the way up to NYC and Albany! for $1,000! How I chose my locations and did it for a grand! That's where the 40 minutes of educational talk comes in. But I really don't expect anyone to sit and listen to it all...unless they somehow get sucked in and really want to know!

Thank you always for your interest and support. Shame our paths are not crossing in New York. Regardless we'll be in touch!

I'll have to go back and catch those old posts about packing, which I know isn't the glamorous side of travel but quickly becomes important if one doesn't get it right!

I like that you post sometimes about logistics and then about the fun and beauty - all of it is important.

40 min video! Good for you, sounds like an interesting one. I'll keep it in mind for when I have a window of time.
happy travels!

haha. Yes I couldn't believe I did a 40 minute video. But that's a condensed explanation of 24 hours of research so a lot one can learn in this video......especially for anyone traveling this part of the world. Yes, I'm all about NOT sugar coating my travels. I leave that up the travel agents who are in it to sell sell sell!

Hi Dan.. Good to see your video and experience a bit of in the moment travelling. I wonder if the German girl tried to get them to wait. Did you see her again?

A couple of bits of feedback. When you're panning around try to do it more slowly. It's a bit fast to process at the moment. I would also break the video into smaller ones. Seeing that it's 8 minutes might put people off and it's easier to consume in bite-size pieces. It would probably make it easier for you to upload too, 😊

Thank Gill! The thing is that the German girl didn't speak any Spanish. I was waving goodbye to her as she left in the van. I walked up to the Van, and someone else took my seat. They said to me the van is full you have to wait for the next one, as they pulled away.

I would have just gotten in the Van, but the lady running the business mispoke telling me we had 20 minutes to wait, so I didn't want to sit in the hot van for twenty minutes.

I didn't see the German girl again in the town.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. When viewing the video, I'll try to be mindfull to pann around slower.

I'm about to post an edutional how video 40 minutes long! On how I planned my trip through south america. So well see who if anyone wants to view that.

I have some people I follow on youtube. I prefer when they post longer videos as it's more entertainment for me. So I'm hoping people enjoy my videos and watch them because they get a kick out of them. I also understand that people may not have time, but then again the average American still has time to watch 4 hours of TV a day. So I'm hoping I'm interesting enough to maintain one's attention for a 5-10 minute video. As that is the length of most of them (which are yet to be published) as I'm trying to tell a story and convey info. But I should try to tighten them when possible. It's very hard to be anything other than me! But the panning I can certainly be more mindful of and will do so.

It will be a huge learning curve and trial and error. Thank you so much for your feedback which is always welcome.

Just to clarify . . . I wasn't suggesting you make the videos shorter by cutting down what you said, I enjoy all the in the moment stuff. It was more to just split that one video up in a couple of places. There were points when that would have been easy to do.

Not saying that is what you should do, of course, but just wanted to be clear that I had no problem with the content. I thought the insight into South American commmunication style was particularly interesting and to get an in the moment example of it was perfect! 😁

Thanks for clarifying Gill. Trust me I really do appreciate your feedback. I think was just confused when you say split that video up in a couple places. Actually I still am confused. Do you mean cut the video into two or three seperate videos, each with their own youtube link? Or seperate steemit posts? That's where you got me regarding splitting it up. If you've spent too much time on this subject with me...no need to reply! lol Steemit, a lot of hours can go by on the place.......

I meant cut the video into two or three seperate videos, each with their own youtube link but in the same article as it was one story and one topic. 😊

Ahhhhhhhh! Sorry for being so thick! Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Hey Dan, nice video. you are a natural on camera. Looking forward to more of these videos.

Thank Steve. Means a lot to me!

Nice work buddy, I follow you

I wish I could go!
I have upvoting and follow

It's always nice to read your travel post. Your post always able to inspire me someway to travel more and explore the unknowns! Also, I totally understand your struggles of having a very minimal time to make travel videos since we all have so much of distractions in life. But, I am glad you did try and make the best out of it. Good work!

Thank you so much for the motivating compliment. No, the video are the solution not the problem. Videos are quick, easy to make, and easty to post. It's the writing and photo editing that takes up my time. So more videos to come! Hope they inspire you as well!

I am totally not the best on camera and I find it takes a lot of way more effort to make a good video. I should stick to writing and hopefully, one day to be like you too :)

Just go for it, and not care! I'm far far far from a Ryan Secrest! But each us bring something interesting to the table.

excellente TP!

What a bargain for 8 pesos! It's a bit annoying to travel away from your ultimate destination, but a detour means more real life experiences :)

Very true! Thanks for watching guys!

really good friends, very good view, and the video is steady, i resteem post my friends yes. thank you

Cooool! Thank you!

Great video Dan, I like your humor :)) Those stories about how the people communicate over there made me really smile, so similar to the Mexican lifestyle :)) Just one little example - our AC broke, we called a guy to fix it. When he finally arrived, he looked at the AC, said he needed to go to his car for some tool or something and he left... We waited for him... 5 minutes... 10 minutes... one hour... Well, he showed up again one WEEK later :) Totally normal here.

Just another day in Mexico! It's just unreal though isn't it? And if you complained or asked what that was that all about; he'd probably look at you like you are the crazy one! I try not to let that stuff bother me too much, but I have a very hard time respecting that mindset and it's simply a part of their culture. Maybe it's why things didn't work out so well with my Ecuadorian X. She complained that I was too smart, thought out, and responsible! I complained that she was too lazy, irresponsible, and had no problem solving skills! TMI

Talk later bro! Thanks for the encouraging words! Have a great day!

:D LOL

Oh man, you got us really laughing out loud now :D I know exactly what you mean ;) Problem solving is a non-existent thing in Latin America :)) Unless "maňana" counts :D Love your stories and your honest, open approach to your audience btw ;) Have a good one my friend!

Ha ha ha. Manana is the go to solution in these parts!
