Past this, once beautiful and majestic temple, located near Bryansk, in the village Khotylevo, every day cars go, follow your path, the pedestrians, and he stands silently, as if accusingly looking from above at what is happening downstairs.
This Church was destroyed long ago. In the last war. No, it is not destroyed by the atheists here and not expelled the priests, just since nobody restores and this strange injustice with a heavy stone lies on the hearts of my countrymen.
The Church of Transfiguration is a wonderful monument of religious architecture, one of the few in the Bryansk land of manor churches ser. 18th century in the style of lush and ornate Elizabethan Baroque. Built in 1763 at the expense of one of the richest landowners of Bryansk Faddey Petrovich Tyutchev.
Even before the revolution of 1917, there was an estate near Prince Tenishev. The Park is still preserved, but the estate is no longer here. There was only an old, moss-covered staircase, and the remains of the columns.
But for some reason I believe that it will take quite a bit of time, and this beauty will be restored. At least the Church that stands at the edge of the road.
Our guest from Moscow stared at the destroyed temple for a long time. It seemed a little wild that he was in such a state of neglect, because in Moscow all the churches have long been restored and maintained in a normal form.
I think it made a strong impression on our friend. I think she's going to have a lot of restless dreams now...

I wonder why it has never been restored? Did the priests build another church after the war?

It will be difficult to understand, probably. Just in our country in those days were difficult times. Religion was not encouraged, and believers were even persecuted. Then there was a Great War with Germany and the Church was destroyed. Only in the 90-ies people began to return to faith in God and restore the Church and build new temples. Nearby in the village there is another Church, so that people have somewhere to go to pray.
