San Marino is the world's oldest republic and Europe's third smallest state. San Marino is a small enclave surrounded by Italy. It is also known as “the Most Serene Republic of San Marino.

It lies 657m above sea level with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and Adriatic coast, and is situated only 10 km from Rimini. Christian stonemason named Marinus founded it in A.D. 301.

The capital of San Marino itself a San Marino its most interesting fact about San Marino. The San Marino flag was officially adopted on April 6, 1862. The blue color on the flag represents the skies and white represents the snow covering Mt. Titano.

The Palazzo Pubblico is the town hall of the City of San Marino as well as its official Government Building. The building, where official State ceremonies take place, is the seat of the Republic's main institutional and administrative bodies.

The total Area of San Marino is 61.2 km² and its total population is 33,203 till 2016. The currency of San Marino is also a Euro. The official language of San Marino is Italian, which is a Romance language based on Latin. Most people in San Marino speak a dialect of Italian called Emiliano-Romagnolo, which is the same dialect that is spoken in the region of Italy adjacent to San Marino. Many people in San Marino also speak English as a second language. San Marino was founded by Christians fleeing prosecution and today the country is still predominately Catholic, although there is no officially recognized religion in the country. San Marino is surrounded on all sides by Italy. So it just has one bordering country. The longest part of the country is between northeast and southwest, stretching around 13 km.

For every 1000 females in San Marino, there are 940 males. People of San Marino are known as Sammarinese. San Marino depends on Italy for its defense as the country does not have its own deference forces. They however have a small military of their own but nothing to fight in the event of a war or dispute. San Marino’s economy is backed by tourism, the banking sector, the manufacture and export of ceramics, paints, clothing, furniture, fabric and wine. Electricity in San Marino is imported from Italy via electrical grid in terms of GDP. San Marino is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. San Marino is the only country in the world with more vehicles than people? There were 1263 vehicles for every 1000 people in the country in 2010.

San Marino does not recognize dual citizenship ( dual citizenship or multiple nationality, is a person’s citizenship status, in which a person is concurrently regarded as a citizen of more than one state under the laws of those states. own taxes make San Marino an appealing place to live and develop banking establishments or businesses. To obtain citizenship, however, one has to officially live here for 30 years if single, or 15 years if married to a Sammarinese. During its entire history, San Marino’s football team has one a single victory – against Lichtenstein – and is located towards the bottom of the world’s football rankings. Most of the team’s players have other jobs, and represent their country as amateurs. San Marino has its own traditional desert-cake called Three Mountains, which consists of waffles layered with coffee cream, chocolate and nuts.
