Memories of Malaysia

Visiting Malaysia was my first out of the country experience and definitely it was very memorable. 😊

I got sick before the flight and even had a discussion with myself if I will still go on with this 5 day vacation tour with my friends. But of course the "yes" within me was stronger cause I already paid all the fees including our hotel reservations. It will be a waste of money and a waste of wonderful experience.

That time in 2014, there was an issue about ebola virus and they were monitoring temperature of passengers so, I got a bit nervous about this travel. But good thing that they were just strict from those passengers who came from the affected area of the said virus.

Our first destination in Malaysia was in Kuala Lumpur. We road a bus from the airport towards the city proper to meet our tourist guide Ling since we pre booked a tour within the city. She was a nice Chinese-Malaysian Lady. We got surprised that the tour was riding in a bus, not a mini bus, but the ordinary big bus and we were just four friends in there together with Ling and the driver.

We did had a great tour around and some that we visited were the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery. Lots of crafts and other things to see in the said gallery. You have lots of options for souvenirs. There was also part there where you will be in a dark room where there were miniatures and video of the whole Kuala Lumpur.

There were also artists in there on the spot making some beautiful handicrafts. Visitors can enjoy watching them doing their own specialty crafts. A display really caught our attention since it is usually "Do not touch me" kind of warnings on arts in display but the art in the photo below is the opposite and it was so nice.

We also visited the Chocolate House where almost all types of chocolates were in there. Even first time to heard and saw some types of the chocolates in there. We did visited some other known monuments in the city and a white palace.

After the bus tour, we headed to the famous Twin towers which I first thought were an all over tower and not a mall in the base. We got confused that we are already "inside" of the tower as we got inside the mall. 😊 It is also nice that there were lots of Filipino in there as we asked for directions on some places around.

Our next Malaysian stop was in Penang. We went there especially for the Penang Hill train ride. It was not your ordinary train ride cause it was a steep ride towards the hill. So exciting to see the sight while you are on this train ride. At the top, there were stores and what we really enjoyed was the fruit shakes in there. Those were fresh fruits from the hill and not that expensive. It is not allowed to bring drinks on the train, if it was just allowed, I will bring some more going down the hill. 😊

I brought back with me this mini brochure below as one of my souvenirs for the Penang trip.

Then we went to Langkawi and the flight towards that place was bit scary as it was raining hard that time. The pilot kept reminding us to stay calm as the plane was geared enough to dealt with that kind of weather. That was my first time to experience quite strong turbulence and we were thankful when we landed already to Langkawi. We went there to experience the cable ride or what they called SkyCab.

It was a scary exciting cable ride cause it was really high. There were also cable cars there without covers which I think is for those who are seeking too much thrill for this ride. We did some screams on few occasions when our cart was quite swinging. There will be a first stop before reaching the very peak and in that stop, you will be watching a video about the place in a small dome type room. There were also stores and attractions on that stop for those who wanted to relax first before riding the cart again to the top.

When we reached the peak, we enjoyed sightseeing and taking photos. We should also enjoy the sky bridge walk there but it was under maintenance that time. Going down was scarier as the cart seems to be swinging more or experiencing bumps. We hold on tight and thankful to reached the base safe. 😊😊😊

Then we went back to Kuala Lumpur at night for our flight back to the Philippines the next day. Below is one of the wall decors in the hotel where we stayed.

Still lots to explore in Malaysia and we even got hotel reservation in Batu Caves but we failed to get there. Maybe next time. Thanks for reading. 😊

I want to see the Twin towers too. Malaysia is also on my to-visit list. My first time riding a cable car is in ocean park hongkong and it was okay, no bumpy ride. haha
