How I won my first 5 STEEM DOLLARS on Steemit?

I have seen this post from fellow steemian @surfermarly, who offered 5 Steem Dollars to someone who can guess where the plain in the photo below will take her. "The geographically closest bet - published in the shortest time - wins.", she said.

I thought ... this could be fun. I am take that challenge and try to guess and win that reward. But how am I going to do that? By wild guessing? Noooo!! Here is how I have actually done it.

STEP 1 - WHERE DOES SHE COME FROM?

I found her Twitter Account, which says she's from Canary Islands. But which island? There are few of them.

Few years ago I was on holiday in Gran Canaria, so I went for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) as starting point. At the airport's official website I looked for departures (see the list below) and realized there is quite a long list of destinations and different airlines.

STEP 2 - WHICH AIRLINE IS SHE FLYING?

I looked at the photo again and there was a clue, which @surfermarly left for us ... the plain itself. From the list of airlines flying from the airport I saw a local airline Binter Canarias, a Spanish airline based in Telde, Gran Canaria. It is a regional air carrier operating inter-island services within the Canary Islands. I have compared the look of the plain in photo with the look of Binter's plains on their website and Facebook page.

For me possible destinations were therefor Tenerife, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura.

It turned out Marly was flying the other way around 😜, so to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria , but coming so close she decided that I was the lucky winner of her betting contest and has already transferred me the winning bet of 5 SBD.

You might think that doing this "detective work" was not worth 5 SBD. I tell you, it was, because it was fun, I've enjoyed doing it and was happy to participate in this fun travel contest, which Marly set up for us in her post.
