Hello dear Steemians and Travelers!

This is my next travel blog on TravelFeed.io and today I will write about the Ancient Theater Of Philippopolis (in the city of Plovdiv) that I visited about ten days ago during my trip to Plovdiv. Once again, just to let you know that, according to Wikipedia, Plovdiv is:

Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia, with a city population of 346,893 as of 2018 and 675,000 in the greater metropolitan area.

On November 28th I went to the city of Plovdiv and I visited the Old Town. There is an old Roman Theater in the Old Town, in the natural saddle between Dzhambaz and Taksim hills:

According to Wikipedia, Plovdiv Roman Theater is also known as Ancient theatre of Philippopolis and in old Latin language TEATRUM TRIMONTENSE (the theater on/of the three hills):

The Roman Theater was built in the ancient Roman city of Philippopolis (nowadays Plovdiv) during the 90s of the 1st century AD when the Roman Empire was under the reign of Emperor Domitian. At that time Philippopolis was under the rulership of Titus Flavius Cotis – an heir of a Thracian Royal Dynasty, the high priest of the Thracian province, representative of the Metropolitan Court of Justice.
As you see in the picture above, the Ancient theater was in use until the end of IV century and had a capacity of about 6000 spectators.

Now, let me share a bit of information about the compositional elements of the theater:

When I visited the ancient theater ...

... I decided to go down to the main stage (orchestra),

... but the steps turned out to be so steep:

So, I was very careful while I was going down:

But when I got to the main stage (orchestra) ...

... I was able to take many beautiful pictures of the theater:

You can see the ancient statues:

I took a picture of the columns:

Over one of the columns there were some remains of writing in old Greek language (probably):

and these are the rows of marble seats surrounding the orchestra:

I also found many remains of inscriptions on the stones/columns probably in old Greek letters:

Btw, during my visit of the Ancient Theater of Philippopolis the weather was perfect:

The Single Entry Ticket costs 2.5 EUR. There are different discounts for groups. That's the ticket that I bought:

Keep in mind that during the summer months, the theater hosts theatrical plays and musical shows.

That's it for now! Thank you for stopping by and reading! Hope you enjoyed my travel blog.

p.s. some pictures of me at the Ancient Theater:
