Babymoon Part 1 - Singapore: Clarke Quay

Babymoon

clarke quay v2.jpg

Note that I had aspired to get this awesome post with the entire babymoon/Singapore adventure done with the hope that @curie or @ocd-resteem found it and did their awesome thing, but given it is almost a month since the babymoon and three weeks since we picked up our little man, I am finding that time is limited so instead I will be putting it out in parts.

Singapore: Clarke Quay

When we got matched with our son, we decided to take a few days prior to pick up to spend together. I like to call this my babymoon, kinda like a honeymoon but instead of post action, do it pre, as who has time after they have a baby.

I am sure my hubby @shai-hulud would have been happy at home gaming right up to the last minute, but as the saying goes happy wife, happy life so we landed in Singapore with two days and three nights to spend exploring.

We spent our time well getting to most of the tourist spots, seeing them by both day and night. Here is Clarke Quay for you to enjoy:

clarke quay v5.jpg

This place was just outside our hotel, so an easy walk and the first place we visited by day, it was super quiet as we walked through at 11 am, with only a handful of restaurants open for business, many of those just setting up. One that was open was this restaurant, not one we were ready to eat at but it peaked our interest.

We didn't get back to Clarke Quay until the last night but what a difference night made, the whole place came to life with a mix of lights, live music food and tourists/locals out for a good night.

Something that wasn't as obvious during the day was the number of bars and nightclubs that were hidden in the daylight. I had never seen a purpose-built beer ping table, so couldn't resist dashing into this one for a cheeky photo.

We even found a little piece of home, Fremantle is just over half an hours drive from our home, and is well known for its seafood and brewed beers, something we didn't need to try in Singapore, especially given the cost of beer.

Clarke Quay is made up of four blocks A/B/C/D and malls that join the clocks are covers with these giant umbrellas that protect from the sun and the rain, at night they light up for a spectacular view.

Well, that is part one of our babymoon adventure, I hope with an hour a day set aside for Steemit while little man sleeps will be enough to pump out the other parts in a reasonable amount of time.

As always thanks for reading and hope to see you next time.

Singapore looks amazing. Will have to visit one day for sure. Just getting hyped about our own trip coming up, to South Korea. Moving there in 2 weeks for a 6 months stay. So exciting!!!
Will finally start posting once I get there, covering the country, food and most of all people.

Hope all is well with your new wee one and that parenthood is all you wished for and more. There will be stress too, but I'm sure you're aware of that and with your sense of humour you can manage anything. Being able to laugh is the best thing in the world.

He is currently chucking a tantrum and wont have his nap so it's challenging today. 😐

South Korea would be interesting, whats the plans for 6 months, thats a long time in a foreign place. Where are you heading from? There should be some interesting posts to read.

There is more than one reason for the trip. Firstly my wife is Korean and this is a well deserved trip to Korea, as we don't get to go that often. We've been married 15 years and only been 6 times (one of those was also for 6 months).
I'm also going to have my dental work carried out over there, as my teeth are in a terrible state and I tend to trust their work more so than my poor experience here in the UK (or at least London).

Both of us love food and travel; this is our opportunity to enjoy ourselves and get the most out of the trip while we are not too old (mid 40s). We're renting out our house to help cover the costs while we're away.

Of course, loads of last minute stuff to do, and plenty going wrong to keep us suitably stressed out until we escape on our flight.

Sorry to hear about the tantrums lol sure will subside with time. Put him next to daddy when he is playing online, that will give you some free time =D

Haha, im sure dad would love that while trying to play PC games lol..

I have heard good things about getting dental work done overseas. I have a friend whonis super keen to do the same thing.

Its nice that you can take some time and stay in your wifes home country too. We are both from Australia but now our son is from Thailand, we hope to get back there with him more often.

Good luck with all your preparations and safe travels. See you around the blockchain soon.

Tell your friend that he doesn't have to go as far as I did. If it had not been for other factors, I would have gone to Hungary to get my teeth done. The standard of training over there is excellent. He will get better work done than in the UK and a generous discount.

See you around o/

We live in Australia so Hungary is probably further than south Korea. She was looking at Malaysia to get them done.

Ooops my bad. Poor reading skills :P

Haha, nah too much to remember about too many awesome Streemians. Cant retain it all.

a very beautiful and fun trip..thank you for sharing

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to get some more out tomorrow as today is no going to plan as our little one will not sleep which means no rest or time for us. Have a great weekend.

Told JJ and @pixietrix that they have a Fremantle Markets in Singapore, the former laughed and the latter was all WHAT?! XD

Babymooning is actually a thing, though this is the first time I've heard it being used in the before stage (there's two types, the before stage where you're celebrating the last stage of not having a baby and preparing to enter the stage of having a baby, and the after stage which is the falling in love stage kind of like the crazy honeymoon period XD).

Looks like you had a good babymoon :D

Haha, Freo is everywhere lol.. ive not heard of the post babymoon thing but i do look at the moon a lot when he is being a poop and wont sleep. Its @shai's birthday today so heading down to the Gozzy hotel for lunch if Thana ever goes to sleep first. Not looking good currently.

Did you make it there eventually? You said you got a toddler right, yeh they try to sleep when they bloody well want to not when they actually need to, and then when it all gets too much they pass out at the most inconvenient times xD

Haha, yes he is almost 16 months and he passed out on my hubby and made it a late late lunch but we made it. Home now and im ready for a nanna nap lol.

I love the beer pong table!

Haha yeah it was too good not to capture. Nothing like a good beer pong game. 😁

I find it humorous that you found a dedicated beer pong table. lol

And over here, it's just some college peeps using makeshift tables.

Until seeing this one, i had never seen a purpose built one. There were actually two set up for all those drunk nights when you need more than one. Lol.

Clark Quay, looks like a place I could really enjoy!...

Congrats on the Babymoon!

Thanks, it was pretty cool, I would have loved the clubs back in the day. These days im ready for bed before they get good. Lol..

Hha, that's a real pity. They look really good. Now, with the little one, clubs are a less likely option anyway...

Haha yeah, not that ive been much of a clubber for years. Unfortunately my tolerance for alcohol is very low so the reason to go out is minimal. The only reason I head out these days is for a dance .

My low tolerance for alcohol is the reason I can afford to go out... ;)

Then you should see my dance moves...Hha!

Haha, I can dance drunk or sober, but prefer sober as I dont feel as shit the next day. I think the last time i got drunk was about a year and a half ago.

Im sure your dance moves we would rock. Lol

Tell me about the morning after, even though I too have taken my foot off the gas...

Yeah, apparently - I'm the only one that thinks my moves are cool! Hhahahaa!

@whitelite haha I may be the same in the dance realm but if you like it do it. :D

You're looking gorgeous and relaxed in that photograph outside Freemantle @insideoutlet. 😊

Great photographs. Glad you got so time to relax before picking up your son. Sounds like an excellent idea to me.

Hats off to you that you've found time to do even this one post! 😍

Aww thank you, it was a relaxing night. Thanks for the hats off too, I didnt think it would be that hard to finish one. Next one is started but nap time sucked today, and now I'm exhauseted lol, there is always tomorrow lol.

Yep. Always tomorrow @insideoutlet. It's not worth getting stressed about. I still haven't posted my Mother's Day post from March. It might end up being next year now! 😂

Haha, thats awesome to know I'm not alone. I have so many like that. I'm getting better at stressing, slowly. Very slowly haha. Maybe just shifting it to little man as his most important. Next year the steem value will be much healthy, so great idea.

Fabulous post, @insideoutlet. This part of the world is completely unknown to me so I really enjoyed learning about Clarke Quay.

I love that you named this Babymoon - Perfect!

xo

Haha thank you, there will be more when I can get them out. Todays nap didnt happen so no writing got done. Could do it tonight or I could sleep. I think sleep would win. Lol.

Looks like a nice babymoon! I can't imagine what you mean... no time with kids... I find if I have to write a longer post, I will write it in bits and pieces over a week or two, and try to resist the urge to post it immediately!

Or at the moment, our little one takes at least an hour to lose conciousness... so I take a laptop in and sit it out...

Yeah I think the sitting it out thing is going to be a common occurrence in the future. His naps are not happening easy and putting him to sleep at night is getting harder.

I dont mind writting it in bits but I hate when cant post often. But its becoming more of a reality. Maybe zappl or steepshot are the way of the future... haha.

I've never been to Singapore before; it looks awesome though...anywhere with purposefully placed beer pong tables works for me though haha Life is a wee bit different with a little guy now too I suppose! Isn't great that you have less time for steemit...I mean, what a great reason to have less time! :)

Haha its a great reason to have less time but we so miss having empty time for blogging. The time we get we just want to nap lol.

Clarke Quay was one of the least impressive and its still awesome. The whole of Singapore is like this. I hope to get another one out tomorrow. But we will see lol.
