THE REPELS & OBSTACLES

Not too bad of a canyon. The repels were all pretty typical, there were only a couple of places where you needed to walk or wade through water. And of course the repel at the end down into the narrows is slippery but epic. Sadly no one was in the narrows that late to see our grand decent.

The approach was probably the most difficult thing about the canyon. Specially with how much snow there was.

This is one of the longer repels and it has a little bit of trickiness if you want to avoid the water at the bottom.

THE APPROACH

The approach is different if you can shuttle and park a car at the top and a car at the bottom. We did the top which required a whole lot less uphill climbing but did require us to get a truck unstuck from the mud because it was so early in the season the road was just a muddy mess toward the end.

As you can see it was also a muddy hike.

And a super sketchy downhill climb in the snow of mid-march.

THE SCENERY

These are the kinds of views you'll expect to see doing this hike. Lots of slot canyons and if you don't have a ton of time it's probably not worth bringing a tripod because it's just too long of a canyon to really have time to take too many shots. I myself would forgo the tripod next time.

THE FRIENDS

I only go canyoneering where there are people that are more than experienced and I can really really trust. Why put my life in the hands of someone who is just decently competent. And luke is one of those people I trust.

We had ourselves a decent little crew of 6 but ran into some friends from SLC along the way so we teamed up.

Who is that majestic creature helping carry bags across the cold section of water.
Yes it was cold enough to warrent getting a dry suit... but barely I probably would do a wet-suit next time. March isn't that cold and I was only in water maybe a couple times and just up to my waste at most.

Well that's cool. I enjoy doing trip reports but sometimes it's a ton of work and the financial incentive does help.

I have 2 more recent trip reports I'm preparing... do you have rules on how often you reward one user?
Because it took me a while to get freed up to edit the pics but now I have time to post them.

We tend to reward different people throughout the week so that more goes out to the community. And we also like to expose the undiscovered gems by less known Steemians. Say, if you have received a curation from curie or other big curators, we would choose the next person who deserves a curation boost.

At the moment, there aren't many people that are aware of the tag. Hence, it is easy to choose and many users are getting rewarded week after week. Hope this helps!

Well i like the concept of the travel feed and would love to post more... so far the hashtag has some good content.

I have been looking for a reason to do more trip reports they do take longer than my normal posts.

Sometimes some initiative on steemot almost seem to deter you from posting good stuff to frequently.

Hopefully, we are the reason to push you to share travel stories and amazing photography with the community! Unfortunately, we are not yet as big as @photofeed or @curie and the incentive is still small, but well deserved! 😇

Great post! I took @suitcasemama to Zion once and tortured her with the Angel's Landing hike and the Narrows hike in one day :) We love that part of the world!

Haha how'd she like angel's landing?
Oh and how much of the narrows did you do?

She almost killed me at Angel's Landing :) But then loved it and was so stoked to have made it up and down alive, she dragged me to the Narrows after that. Not too far up the Narrows, just to the first side canyon on the right where you can almost touch both sides to get the true narrow feeling before heading back down before it got too dark...

Amazing post, I like how you organised the different sections ;)

It really helped me in deciding on which pictures to select.

Love the downward shots! Cool stuff!

what goes up... must go down? ummm not sure how that works. haha

in any case thanks!

Cool report!

A little too adventurous for me but very cool, stunning scenery!!

Understandable. It is one of the more dangerous things i've done recently. That downhill section in the snow made a couple experienced people contemplate turning back because we didn't know how bad it'd get.

Oh wow really! Gosh... I'm getting too old for adventures like that now but if you're able why not, what an amazing experience!!

WOW. excellent photographs and an extraordinary travel post!
full of adrenaline and enjoyable!

Thanks glad you liked it.
Yep some people travel a bit ... differently. haha
