South Africa, remains one of the most beautiful countries in the world. We as a nation have managed to overcome obstacles and injustices and rose up as kind caring and considerate people.

We cherish our freedom and have been striving towards a state of Ubuntu. We the people continue to love for unity, regardless of our leaders who somehow continuously undermine the power and thoughts of the collective. Our agenda is sometimes far removed from those in power, but that does not deter from the kindness we extend as individuals.

Discover the true South Africa. Not just our beautiful country, but also our beautiful people. I endeavour to do what I can to make a difference. No matter how small or seemingly insignificant. I can only do the best I can.

When tough decisions and change present itself we tend to approach with caution and trepidation. May all your decisions and next steps be blessed with clear instruction and reckless abandon.

Life happens once, as far as we know. Take the next step, and remember to prune when entering the new year. As an amature gardener I have come to realise the importance of pruning.

It is of paramount importance to trim away all the dead leaves and branches to allow the nutrients and nourishing water to be channeled and focused on the parts that are new and blooming that need it most. If not, all the nourishment is lost, and neither the old or the new will ever grow to reach it's full potential.

Live and allow mistakes to happen. Learn from the past but do not live in the past. Feed what is in front of you and by doing that you will reap a harvest of great bounty in time to come.

Travel much and see more. Open your arms to allow others in, have discussions and refrain from judgements. We are all from earth and our differences mean nothing in the bigger scheme of things.

Love and give without expectation. Do more for others. Give more, expect less, and always ensure appreciation is high. We multiply the things we appreciate.

My father had one mantra he lived by and he mounted it on a carved wooden board and hung it on the study wall. I remember as a child he would call me into his office and he would tell me the importance of the Desiderata.

He would say, everything I ever needed to know was contained in the paragraphs of that writings. I remember reading it over and over many times, and I think the words have stuck with me ever since.

Over time and with closer inspection I now understand why he held it in such high regard. Almost every if not all trials and tribulation and experience good or bad has somehow brought this simple but effective message to me.

It was only after he had passed on that I realised just how his life was a shining example of contentment and ambition roled into one. That the two elements which are seemingly at odds with each other, is best delivered with precise compromise, as one.

My life mantra passed on. A message for the new year.

*Desiderata.
GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Balance and moderation in all that we do, creates harmony and organic growth without disrupting the natural flow of the universe true intention.
