That looks so beautiful, and so flat! I love bike riding on flat highways and paths; it's one of the best feelings in the world. And yes, cyclists take 'bike photos'. I know I have! :)

Love the map at the bottom. My first thought was, 'damn, Nicky really got around!'

Yes there's something very pleasant about riding on flat ground and letting the bike drift as you let gravity take control!

Haha yes would have been a lot more broken than I was if I did the full 152km 😂 I was still damaged after the 35 km we actually did!

Excellent photography @nickyhavey, it's like I'm right there with you. 👍👍

Thanks for checking it all out mate! Glad you enjoyed the journey here, now we can relax in the pub 😁

How on earth do you remember so much after your trip? I would have forgotten everything before I even left the country!

Haha, it is a bit of a challenge I have to admit but I took photos, lots of photos, made some notes when I was out there and lots of research over the last few days to make sure I have done the best I can with it all 😊

Haha thanks for coming on it with me man! Glad you enjoyed this 😀

I wish the travel will not stop but I know it's just a dream. 😊

As a dutchie I am a huge cyclist offcourse and I am so jealous of your trip love it

Haha thanks for joining in the cycle @brittandjosie! I know there were cycles everywhere in Netherlands when I visited, seemed to be more bikes than people! Definitely less people in New Zealand, lovely 😊

Posted using Partiko Android

Excellent capture of this beautiful ride! Extremely thorough and some amazing places, well done.

Thanks a lot man! Glad you enjoyed coming on the bike ride with me here! I'd love to go back and do the whole 152km the next time I visit, some beautiful scenery in New Zealand 😀

Oh dear, check my wallet dear friend...

Yep I sent it. #protest lol

Well good luck with your protest I guess 👍

Posted using Partiko Android

#protest #rampage lol

Why are people so mean and dumb on here? lol

Thanks though. I'd rather have done things the nicer way. I respectfully asked for the flags to be removed but I don't think I will be nice anymore.

I haven't flagged you though?

I've done some downvotes on posts that I thought were massively over rewarded on the trending page of various accounts but I always explain why and try to give constructive feedback.

You might want to check out a post by xpilar as well - it's the open letter to downvoters/flaggers (I was tagged in that but seems I was the only one replying from those that were tagged). Check my comments there as they explain everything from my point of view but I'm not out to get anyone here. I want steem to thrive and I think we should all encourage each other but I might just be the exception after reading through things this weekend...

Always been told I'm way too optimistic 😂

Downvoted due to a disagreement with the rewards given to the post.

Sorry to hear about the issues with steemleo. Do they have a discord you can go into and use to ask for help? Most tribes do

Posted using Partiko Android

I also used a bidbot to boos my rewards

@steemflagrewards bidbot used to boost rewards

https://steemit.com/steemleader/@mysearchisover/steemleader-abuse-stats-140790-23-638

Well, since HF21, I wouldn't recommend anyone to use bid bots anymore unless you set post payouts to "decline rewards" or set beneficiary to @null. Seems that's the general consensus now in the community from what I've seen.

I think you should probably take your issue/protest with those who have actually been downvoting your posts or go to steemflagrewards Discord?

I can think of 100 scary things that could happen in that tunnel. Brave to be going through that. Beautiful place and wonderful experience. A break from being on your feet too.

Posted using Partiko Android

Haha the Queen of Darkness scared by a little tunnel? I never thought I'd see that 😁 it was pretty spooky going through I have to admit but the rest of the journey was amazing! Loved it and definitely want to go back to do the whole 152km 😀

Posted using Partiko Android

Tunnels, underground, underwater, under pillow. Anything that threatens my access to breathe. I do have a few fears 😄

Oh my goodness @nickyhavey, this bike trip had to be unbelievable:) Those mountains, the water....wow! Although I have to say the tunnels...not so much, lol I think you could just ride forever with scenery like this! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!!

Hey @birdsinparadise oh yes it really was! I don't really bike much at all due to crazy drivers on the UK roads but trails like this which are away from the traffic and enjoyable to ride around, I'll do that any day (of course good weather helps)!

Haha yea the tunnels, particularly the first one, were pretty daunting... I stayed back from the group as I wanted to take it all in but that also meant I was on my own as I went through! 🙈

Thank you for joining the ride with me 😊

Posted using Partiko Android

And a very good biking route it looks. The lake area photos are all my favorites, but the bridge and tunnel are also cool.

Thanks for joining me on the ride man! Yea the lake is beautiful and some sections of the trail are amazing scenery too. Thank goodness we had the weather we did because it was looking ominous the day before!

Posted using Partiko Android

So right place, right time, right weather :) The rest can be random.

Give me those 3 things any time. Right people is a nice 4th if possible!

Posted using Partiko Android

That looked like a great bike ride, mate. I love the tunnel. There is a tunnel section in Borg d'oisans that is similar. On the climb up to Villard Notre dame. You have to focus on that little dot of light. Not easy.

The lake looks beautiful too. Another mammoth post done and dusted.

Gaz

Ah mate, it was really enjoyable. I barely cycle so was a little wary but trial riding is awesome, especially when the weather holds up and the views are as good as this!

Haha yea, just focus on the light and keep walking towards it and don't look back 😀

I surprise myself with word count sometimes, you think you've only done 1000 words but this was close to about 2,000 I think! The challenge is to keep it entertaining but definitely don't intend on writing the 6k word monsters from earlier in the year 🤣🤣

Bad weather into good conditions for cycle trip which timed out pretty well, a very pretty countryside Nicky. Interesting to learn of gold craze hitting remote areas in the world, open cast mining there are some pretty big holes around.

Building tunnels, going over viaduct and bridges looked to be a highlight in the adventure, I would opt for train travel to cycling it any day. Oh well you take the wheels on offer.

Heya @joanstewart yes it was a complete turnaround wasn't it from the day before when we drive in what was effectively a storm to glorious sunshine! Beautiful!

Yes I was surprised to read about the Blue Lake in my notes when writing up this one about it being man made, didn't remember from at the time as we just went straight to the lake as the town was pretty much shut.

Well there are e-bikes with motors in them to help with the cycling so don't rule out the biking! The only section of the train line that still runs is well away from this area (towards Dunedin) so you may have to grin and bear it 😁 or walk a loop of it as there were some walkers too.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and glad you enjoyed this

Posted using Partiko Android

We have the Big Hole in Kimberley and it is not the biggest, I cannot believe how people will dig down into the depths they do with open cast mining.

I will walk thanks my feet must be firmly planted on the ground, I have not cycled in many a year, no it is safer for everyone I stay on foot.

Oh I looked at train travel over there it is a bit dis-jointed to make good ground, you have to switch to a vehicle to get where you have been.

Hey @joanstewart yes some of those mines really go down a long way, so much deeper than you'd ever imagine!

Haha, get those steps in in the process hey 🙂

Yes we got a ride in our tour bus to get to the pick up point from our guide which was very handy. Certainly couldn't get the train there 😁

Another great post about your adventure. Justly rewarded.

I love the bridges and tunnels

Thanks a lot Fiona, really glad you enjoyed this one! I'm going to have to go back to NZ again and stay there... And turn everything off 😁

Posted using Partiko Android

Yes you will, and yes you must!

Hey ma man Nicky. Another awesome adventure bro. It's like I took a bike ride with you there and I am catching my breath right now. Photos are a winner especially at the lake. Could there be still some gold left?

Hey hey it's the big bad wingman @watersnake101 😁 Thanks for checking it out and coming in the ride with me!

Yes I got a little bit out of breath as well going up some of the inclines but the views are definitely worth it! Sore bum and "man parts" the next days but hey 😂

If there's still some gold left, I'll hop on the plane now and investigate it 🕵️‍♂️

Posted using Partiko Android

Wow! I guess that is the only way one could describe this! You have had the best adventure here and I have to say the tunnel really caught my attention! :)

Biking through like this is absolutely one of the most brilliant things ever, although I love the hike, how often can you get this much bikable road with scenery like this? Flat and forever! Just the way I love it! I recognize those bike photos!!!

Going over the bridges and looking at all the miles you got in! Holy hell, man!!! That is a trip!!! Just beautiful!

Hey @dswigle, thanks a lot for stopping by and I really enjoyed this cycle, glad you did too!

Cycle trails are a bit more favourable for sure vs cycling on the road. No cars to potentially cause issues and ruin the experience! Just countryside and we definitely lucked out with the weather, which made it that much more enjoyable 🙂

I am so happy you took this time to do it. I went for almost a year after college and I must say that I have never regretted it one bit AND even now, keep traveling every moment I can. It is a big world out there and just waiting for us to cross paths with it.

I am getting ready to leave for a month next week. Nobody realized that the internet is almost impossible in many places.

🎁 Hi @nickyhavey! You have received 0.2 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

@dswigle wrote lately about: The Charm Of A Little Monochrome On Monday Feel free to follow @dswigle if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide.

@nickyhavey - what a fabulous post on your travels! Beautiful landscapes and filled with interesting information. I envy all the great traveling you have been doing! Thanks for sharing this trip with us.

Heya @blueeyes8960 thank you for checking it out and appreciate the feedback! Glad you enjoyed this little cycle through the amazing scenery of New Zealand.

Posted using Partiko Android

Your posts on this trip are all fabulous. Love the photographs you take (the anxious one before the first tunnel is my fave in this batch - I got quite a chuckle out of that one) and I'm impressed with how much you get done in a single day. Thanks for putting these together.

Thanks a lot @owasco! Glad you found the nervous picture funny too haha 😁

And you'll be impressed with some of the blogs coming up when I stated going through my individual Road trip across the North and South islands... 1,000km drive and a couple of hikes? No problem 😉

Posted using Partiko Android

that good ride you had, cycling is really great, I have already a few months that I do not give one, I think it's my turn! love each of the photos

Hey @fmbs25, thanks a lot for riding along with me here! Definitely get yourself back on the wheels my friend, it's actually really cool to have the wind go through your hair 😁

Posted using Partiko Android

That is one big sky, and beautiful! The tunnel is awesome too. Incredible images. And that lake is amazing. This looks like an awesome bike trail, @nickyhavey.

Thanks a lot @blockurator! You're right, definitely an amazing trail and we did less than one third of it! I think someone may have to go back out and spend a few years there, you know, just to make sure it's still all OK to visit for anyone else. I'll happily volunteer 😛

Posted using Partiko Android

Only one third? You should definitely go back. It looks amazing.

Impressive! I really should try to visit New Zealand... that shot with the mist, it's really quite gorgeous!... not sure that I would bike it though....
