Oh, I know perfectly well where Galicia is, because I live there! And where exactly did your ancestors come from?

My paternal grandmother came from Smolnik ad Baligrod. I visited that small village back in late 1980's. Her husband, my grandfather, I think came from the same village or maybe near Smolnik. All records I can find on him indicate he came from Austria-Hungary. Through all my research, I cannot find any birth documents for either of my grandparents. However, my grandmother did have a translation version of her birth certificate, and that is how I know she came from Smolnik. Do you think you could help me in any way? I would be so appreciative. My grandfather's surname is Onufer and my grandmother is Skomsky. I spent 23 years living in Europe, particularly Germany and Belgium, while I was a pediatrician in the American Army. My wife and I go back to Europe on vacations once or twice each year. In May-June we will be spending time in Germany, where her ancestors came from. I know you responded to my entry last month, but I just realized that today....so I hope you will see my response to you sometime soon. I look forward to hearing from you.
