Hello amazing people!!

Gautam Buddha also known as Siddhartha Gautama (सिद्धार्थ गौतम) holds pride in our country Nepal. He was born in the sacred gardens of Lumbini located in the Terai plains of southern Nepal in 623 BC.

Buddha is the enlightened master known in the world for peace, compassion and love. He is the son of King Suddhodana (father) & Queen Maya Devi (mother). He has a huge influence on the world. He was married to his spouse Yasodhara and had a  son Rahul. He left all his royalty, luxuries and family to understand the truth of life. He is believed to have lived, meditated and taught in many parts of the world including the northeastern part of India. He was believed to have got enlightened under the bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya.

There had been many debates about his birthplace as many people around the world have misunderstood. Many people believed that the Buddha belongs to India. This is misplaced and confusion may have come from the fact that he got enlightened in Bihar, part of current India. **But Buddha was physically Born in Lumbini, Kapilvastu, part of current Nepal.** This has been scientifically proven with archaeological evidence and investigation of "Asholk Stambha". Of course, it is widely understood that he spent time in the forests (both in Nepal and India) learning, meditating and teaching after the enlightenment. This may have led some to suggest Buddha was born in India but actual physical birth of the Buddha was in current Nepal. This is the fact and backed by UNESCO [Lumbini, the Birthplace of the Lord Buddha](https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/666)

Lumbini is a sacred place in Nepal with the world's important religious norms and values, and one of the most important evidence that immensely justifies the existence and evidence that Gautam Buddha's Birthplace is current Nepal. Lumbini is a wonderful place to visit when you are in Nepal. There are many international monasteries as described in https://lumbinidevtrust.gov.np/en/lumbini/content/109/27/3. Lumbini is definitely worth being on your list of places to visit.
