Volunteering abroad as a couple can take your relationship with your partner to another level. Some might be afraid that the pressure of traveling and volunteering abroad can add stress on your relationship, but it will most likely be the opposite, it can be an adventure and a time to become closer than before. You'll have the opportunity to make great memories, learn new cultures together and learn more about your partner in a short period of time. Here are the benefits that can make a difference in your own relationship and in the world.
Accomplishment
Travel is one thing, but traveling and volunteering is a life-changing experience. Volunteering in its own is very self fulfilling, but with a partner adds another aspect to a relationship. When volunteering as a couple, it tends to add a sense of accomplishment to your relationship. In a rocky relationship it may have been a long time since the two of you have felt that feeling of "we did something good together." Bringing that positive energy to your partner can really change attitudes about each other. The benefits of volunteering can have on a relationship don't stop there.
Stress build up
Countless studies show that volunteering helps lower blood pressure and can reduce stress. Researchers found that volunteering at least 4 hours a week can lower stress and hypertension by up to 40% over time. This can make a big impact on a relationship. It's a no brainer that people are more irritable when they are stressed and can cause quite a strain between couples. Traveling can be stressful too but it doesn't have to be. Giving Back
In 2012, a study was published that found, when you reflect on good deeds you have done, it actually inspires a person to want to help others more. Our brains tell us that helping others is good, so when thinking about Volunteering, it only inspires more giving and being more selfless. When couples show this new attitude of selflessness, it only leaves room for love to grow. Being selfless can be difficult but with the help of volunteering it can make it easier to remember how good it feels to give and not receive. Your relationship will reap the benefits of this new selfless attitude towards one another and others.
Get out there together
Your volunteer trip abroad gives you a chance to getaway with your significant other. This unforgettable experience as a couple will show what the two of you can accomplish together. This is very beneficial to strengthening a relationship. Also a great idea for honeymooners. A volunteer trip will add a new dynamic to your relationship and you will learn new things about yourself and about each other. Grab this opportunity with both hands and get ready to take lots of photos, have fun and make a real difference in the communities you will work in!

Yes we highly encourage couples and families to volunteer. We have a mother and her two teenage boys coming in January. They volunteer often together and I have to say it really shows on them boys. Great people
