Bangladesh’s pride and joy, Cox’s Bazar Beach is lauded throughout the land as if it’s a contender for one of the natural wonders of the world. It is the longest continual natural beach on the planet (125km), but a world wonder it isn’t. In fact, it’s not even the nicest beach in Bangladesh (the beaches on nearby Saint Martin Island and at Kuakata in Barisal division are far more scenic).
For Bangladeshi's it doesn't get much better than Cox's Bazar, the country's most popular beach town than the other one 'Kuakata beach town. It's sort of a Cancun of the east.
Over many years Cox's Bazar has been an attraction to both international and domestic tourists.
Opportunities of lazy sunbaths on the private beaches of famous Cox’s Bazar 5 star hotels are also alluring.
Besides, opportunities of bathing and swimming in shark free warm water makes Cox’s Bazar a top tourist attraction.
Tourist Attractions of Cox’s Bazar:
There are many tourist attractions around Cox’s Bazar, which are easily accessible by Jeeps and in some cases cars.
☞Himchari: It is about 32 km south of Cox's Bazar along the beach, a nice place for a picnic and photo-shooting. During the winter dry season, the waterfall dwindles but in the rainy season it is fabulous.
☞ Ramu: This is a typical Buddhist village. located 16 kilometers away from Cox's Bazar. The village accomodates monasteries, khyangs and pagodas. There are images of Buddha in gold, bronze and other metals inlaid with precious stones inside the pagodas.
One of the most interesting of these temples is on the bank of the Baghkhali River. It houses not only interesting relics and Burmese handicrafts but also a large bronze statue of Buddha measuring thirteen feet high and rests on a six feet high pedestal. The wood carving of this khyang is very delicate and refined.
☞Inani Beach: Inani Beach is within Ukhia Thana, 35 km. to the south of Cox's Bazar. It can also be accessed via Himchari.
with the sea to the west and a background of steep hills to the east. It is considered the world's longest and broadest beach: 180m at high tide and 300m at low tide.
☞ Sonadia Island: Sonadia Island is a beautiful island in Moheshkhali Upazila of Cox's Bazaar district. The area of the island is around 7 to 9 square kilometers. Located in the South-eastern part of Bangladesh, it is home to sea turtles; various exotic and rare bird species; and many conservationists who work tirelessly to save these species from extinction.
There are sea beaches on three sides of the island. This makes the island a very attractive site for camping, beach lovers, divers, nature photographers and fishing.
Throughout the year you will be able to observe various kinds of colorful birds and rare species here. Sonadia Island is a place of immense natural beauty.
☞ Maheskhali: Maheskhali is located in the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Cox's Bazar. The island has a range of low hills running across the centre and eastern coast. 300 feet high; but the coast to the west and north is a low-lying treat, fringed by mangrove jungle.
It takes about half an hour by speed boat or an hour by a trawler. Usually the ride from Cox's Bazar to Maheshkhali is quite refreshing.
By its side on the same hill is a Buddhist Pagoda.
☞Teknaf: Teknaf is the southernmost point of Bangladesh and is bordered by Myanmar. It is situated on the Naaf river and just at the end of the hilly regions of the district.
Wild animals and birds are available but the most interesting thing is a journey on the river. Wide sandy beach in the backdrop of high hills with green forests is an enchanting scene never to be forgotten.
I wanna go out for travelling to Cox's Bazar next month Insha-Allah!
