When it comes to travelling, everyone has their own personal purpose on what they want to get from travelling to places. It depends on their preference of place, culture, food, or even the environment to feel the experience by themselves. Some crave for variety of food that they rarely or even cannot get from their hometown, some look for aesthetic views of certain places so that they can post good pictures on their social media, and some others make travelling as their annual routine every year.

For me, I take travelling as one of my great escape from my daily responsibilities. I prefer to explore the nature itself because sometimes I feel that I should involve myself more with the nature instead of being a “servant” to gadgets every day. Plus, I look at the nature as an enigmatic element where I need to discover as much as I can to ease my curiosity. Hence, it makes me become a wanderlust. This travelogue will share you about my fascinating experience back then in 2018 when I took a little escape on the weekend to a place called Murug-Turug.

Murug-Turug is a place that is geographically located in Tamparuli, Sabah. This place is off the beaten track as it is far away from the capital. However, it is really astonishing to see its progress on developing itself as an Eco Tourism for Sabah. Of course, its villagers played their role excellently on promoting their village for the tourist.

Basically, the main activities to be done when going to this place are jungle trekking and rejuvenate yourself at the waterfalls. Yup, WATERFALLS with plural ‘s’. Murug-Turug has seven waterfalls lying deep inside the forest. Each waterfall has its own phenomenal attraction. You can go for an adventure to all of it but need to pay different price for each package, and it may take the whole day. So, my friends and I chose a single package, where we will be guided by a malim to one of the waterfalls only, but of course, we decided to go to the most stunning and tallest waterfall in Murug-Turug. The malim will not only be your company, but also be your life guard when doing water activities. Not only that, life jacket is also provided for them who do not know how to swim yet want to splash themselves into the waterfall, like me.

Friendly reminder; it was really challenging for us to go there because we had to walk downhill on our feet for at least three kilometres. The hardest part was when we wanted to go back to the entrance. There was no other way than go back uphill. So, dear readers, if you are really interested to go here, be sure to prepare yourself mentally and physically. It really costs an arm and a leg, but it is worth an experience! Most importantly, it will be one of the most adventurous and sweetest memories that you will ever have together with your travelmates.
