Want to see what the historic capital of Silicon Valley looks like? You don’t want to? 😊 But I’ll show it anyway. Because I like her - this is the city of Palo Alto. It is, in my opinion, very different from San Francisco, although it is only 50 kilometers from it.
Palo Alto can also be pronounced with a soft sign after “l” in the second word, but in Bulgaria I am used to solid consonants and it is more convenient for me. This name comes from the phrase "tall tree". By the way, they say that this tree still stands somewhere on the banks of the San Francisco stream. And, indeed, there are a lot of trees in Palo Alto - it is a very green city and therefore I like it. The low buildings and tall trees make Palo Alto cozy and comfortable, and for some time you forget that this is one of the most expensive cities in America - it seems like a nice village.
This city is one of the centers of Silicon Valley. Along with San Jose, from which Palo Alto is only 28 kilometers away. In general, there are no gaps between cities in this mountainous region; they all flow smoothly into each other.
In fact, Silicon Valley does not have a capital, it includes several cities, but some of them claim to be either the "unofficial capital, or the" historical "- so Palo Alto wants to be historical, and we will forgive him. Especially since here there are really a lot of digital companies like Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, Apple, Facebook, VMware and Tesla Motors. By the way, Tesla's cars in Palo Alto are more than stray dogs in Sofia. So my husband said 😊 They’re everywhere. because they are driven by Tesla Motors employees, and there are no homeless animals here, by the way. at all.
Until the 18th century, on the site of Palo Alto was the village of the Oloni Indians. Then the Spanish colonialists began to occupy this place. They built a ranch here and were engaged in agriculture, because the Mediterranean climate contributes to this. In the 90s of the 19th century, Stanford University began to form alongside modern Palo Alto. Its founders were Jane and Leland Stanford. This educational institution has largely contributed to the influx of brains into these places, the growth of local towns and higher prices for everything. Thanks to this, Palo Alto in 1925 swallowed up another Mayfield town of the same kind and now Palo Alto has two downtowns - two business centers.
By the way, Stanford University, or rather its huge campus, is an independent administrative unit, but on the terrain this is not at all noticeable - everything is sort of together. No fences.
Despite the fact that Palo Alto is located in a mountainous region, the altitude here is only 9 meters. The population is very mixed and different) It is strongly noticeable that there are many Chinese - African Americans are much smaller, if not to say that there is a shortage. Less than 70,000 people live in Palo Alto.
Tree trunks painted blue.
Street toilet.
It says here that the park is open until 10pm. There are no fences around the park.
