Travel Tunes Tuesday - METAL Edition!!!

It's time for another Travel Tunes Tuesday, a project created by @nomadicsoul where we share some of the music we've heard while traveling or that we listen to while traveling. Read the original post here.

I'm switching it up a bit this week. Since I know some international metal songs, I wanted to put them in one post instead of dropping them one by one into my other Travel Tunes lists. So this is my first dedicated Metal edition of Travel Tunes Tuesday.

1. End of All Hope by Nightwish

Nightwish, hailing from Finland, has been an international sensation for over 2 decades with their symphonic metal inspired by film scores. Their original singer, Tarja Turunen, brought something different to the metal scene with her trained soprano voice. This song includes Tarja, although Nightwish's later albums feature a different singer who isn't a soprano, which i'll probably share in a different Travel Tunes post in the future.

2. Country Road by Imaginary Flying Machines

This one is too good not to share. It is actually a metal cover of a Japanese cover of a famous John Denver song. The song they are covering was a part of a popular anime movie called Whispers of the Heart. On top of translating the song to Japanese they had the movie's main character change some of the lyrics to match her own life. I recommend the movie but I recommend this song more.

3. Sahti Waari by Turisas

So there are actually A LOT of metal bands from Finland. Turisas is another one of them. Some of them include more traditional instruments in their hard-hitting music. And they call it Folk Metal and it's pretty awesome (also known as Viking Metal). This one includes an accordion, violin, and then a penny whistle for that medieval feel. This song might just turn you into a folk metal fan.
