Tree Planting Project

Day 24

57 Trees Planted So Far!

The earth is suffocating from the abusing of deforestation in countries all around the globe. The reason varies, all from large and continuous accidental forest fires during hot summers to global cooperation's wish to gain profitable money to their already large money bags.

I will post one post per day to collect as much post reward as possible to donate for planting trees in various places of the earth using the service of One Tree Planted.

Why I do this?

As the world we live in is going global, we read more and understand more today than at any other time before, I see more and more selfishness. People have a hard time to take in the global perspective, and that what You do every day have an impact on people on the other places of the world. I do this to make a small contribution towards a better, more understanding, and greener world.

I believe in the platform for a greater good, for something that can be used to help others. Each day will have a short summary on the country or project that I support, making the post not only about supporting something, but also educational for you who contribute towards it.

Please help me help others and our planet.

Latest Contribution

Today we plant 2 trees in Haiti, Haiti is 27,750 square kilometers (10,714 sq mi) in size and has an estimated 10.8 million people, making it the most populous country in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the second-most populous country in the Caribbean as a whole.

Haiti's forests covered 60 percent of the country as recently as fifty years ago, but today, according to more in-depth environmental analysis, the country yields approximately 30 percent tree cover, a stark difference from the often cited 2 percent which has been widely circulated in discourse concerning Haiti.

Reforestation is a major challenge for Haiti. Centuries of over-farming and poor agricultural methods have destroyed the region’s soil. Erosion makes it very difficult to grow food, and dramatically increases the impact of natural disasters. Planting trees here will help restore nutrients to the soil and teach local farmers how to use the land responsibly and profitably.

We work with an amazing partner in Haiti that uses social enterprise to tackle reforestation. Focusing on community development, they help establish farmer cooperatives and rural farm businesses, with a strong focus on empowering women. By planting trees and learning proper environmental practices, Haitian farmers are able to grow more food, combat climate change, and lift themselves out of poverty

To maximize the impact of your donation, our partner in Haiti will determine the most appropriate species of tree to plant, depending on the time of year. Popular species include fruit trees (papaya) and fast-growing timber trees (cedrela odorata).

Haiti is a mountainous country that was once covered in lush tropical forests and fertile valleys. Since colonization, its forests have been cleared for industry – primarily coffee plantations, timber exports, and charcoal. Over 70% of Haiti’s annual energy comes from wood-based fuels, creating a serious threat to air quality. It is estimated that between 30 and 40 million trees are cut down each year, and approximately 4,000 kilotons of wood is harvested for energy consumption.

Haiti’s unpredictable climate makes it susceptible to drought, flash flooding, and hurricanes. Soil erosion and lack of tree cover exacerbate the impact of these disasters. Deforestation in Haiti is closely linked to the poverty cycle; lack of access to fertile ground has led poorer farmers to cultivate steep, treeless slopes, destroying the topsoil and making it difficult for them to yield crops.

The Process

Once a posts pay-out is finalized, ~75% of the value will be used to purchase trees through One Tree Planted. I will use WirexAPP to purchase with Cryptocurrency and minimize the loss through fees. The goal is to plant as many trees as possible.

The Result

It's still early in the process of collecting funds, there will be a few until anything is paid out, I'm still going to purchase trees until there are post rewards to use. Thus I will have a negative result for the moment.

At the moment it's difficult to track historic posts rewards. It will be visible once an easy way arise.
