~ Fallen Friends and Fungus Among Us ~
Walking today @ Lake Bergundasjön in Växjö, Sweden we came across these images I captured for Tree Tuesday! Most of these images are of a tree that has been cut down and fashioned into a bench on the trail encircling the lake. This first image is the edge of the seat. You can see the depth of the cut, the bark, and the cool Fungi growing like wildfire!
Now, all the snow is melted and it was misting a bit too so everything is wet! You can see the wood glisten showcasing the grain! Plus you can see the full length of the log bench.
This is the log's edge which has more mushrooms growing on it... but it's that thin vibrant green layer of moss that I wanted to share with you!
This was a limb that had been cut off that was pretty substantial in size!
The moss is awesome and the mushrooms almost make a Fairy Ring between the wood and the bark around the cut.
This next picture is the base of a tree that had some awesomely bright moss and a bunch of Polypores growing around the roots.
This next stump looked like it has a very fine cut when the tree was cut down. Yet, there is this tiny vestige of spikes that I imagine to be the sole survivors of grain that missed the saw and were left standing by the falling of the trunk. I could be wrong... but what are the odds?
A last little white fluff of fluted fungus growing out from between some bark and the wet inner layer of a trunk with some shaggy moss overhanging.
I decided to finish this post off with some original art. It's sketch of a tree I saw in a photograph from an enormous tree in Costa Rica. I loved the serpentine roots! I hope you enjoyed your Tree Tuesday and I am glad you stopped by to check out the post!
