Enter the Fur
(Not Fir Trees)This is my first contribution to Tree Tuesday! Now that Winter is here... finding some moss on a (living) tree makes me think that would be great for insulation as the cold sets in! Many of the trees here in Sweden have these blanketed patches of moss growing on them that reminds me of fur. The mosses and fungi growing on and in trees around here are quite the sights to see, even in the winter.
The Mushrooms are growing directly from the tree or right out from under the bark and it is truly spectacular to see! Most of nature is going to sleep or seemingly dead at the moment and these little bursts of life are a blessing to see.
The caps on these Mushrooms remind me of shark or seal skin in texture and color. These were growing all the way up and down the tree in many compact clusters and the sizes were quite large. The gills were gorgeous and this was an impressive tree to see. The colors, textures, and the shapes were fun to look at!
These next three images were some of my favorites. This first picture is perfect for Tree Tuesday because that shroom is popping right out of the bark on that tree! The angle is perfect for seeing the gills on this mushroom. You can see in the last two images how the bark has torn and those little fellas are hanging in there.... literally!
Here was a fresh stump possibly still alive... wet from the rain and with some weird fungus growing on it. I really liked the oddness of the fungi and the rich tones in color of the wood!
Here to wrap things up I wanted to show you a tiny little mushroom growing out of the moss growing on the knot of an exposed root to this tree. Nature is so cool if you take the time to appreciate it and truly see what there is to see!
very nice macros! i enjoyed it alot! ^^
