I adore the beauty of our world, the uniqueness of nature, the sacred scents of the earth. Oh, how I love thee. It is with such pleasure that I put out some trees, some flowers, and very soon I promise, the buzzing of bees. It is such a pleasure to join in #TreeTuesday with @old-guy-photos. My faithful friend, standing like a century in my life, winter or summer, it never takes a day off... from being a tree.

We interrupt this #TreeTuesday for a moment or three...

You can never find the right picture when you need it. Am I right? This was meant for #BoulderSunday by @Shasta, but, for the life of me, I couldn't find a rock. Until I did. Better late than never? Except in horseshoes and hand grenades. That is how I learned it as a kid.

The simplest gesture can give you the greatest pleasure. Oh, for the simplicity of a smile. It feels oh-so-wonderful. Give one, get one – for free.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
