Tree Tuesday - the Big Kauri Trees of Northland

A couple of weeks ago we headed up to Northland, NZ, to check out some of the magnificent stands of kauri trees in the Northland forests.

It's incredible to think that these trees are thousands of years old. When you stand in front of them, you're actually standing in the presence of trees that have existed since before humans came to New Zealand shores.

This photo is from the Puketi forest - and shows just what it's like to be standing below the incredible forest canopy.
