I live in the land of the the mighty oak. The Live Oak is prevalent all along the south eastern US. They are very beautiful with their moss dripping branches and live to be over a hundred years old. It's the perfect shade tree for the hot, humid summers we have to endure. Screenshot_20180731-121638~2.png (photo courtesy of Savannah Tree Foundation)

The old oak tree, what a lovely photo thanks @the-witty-waiter

Nice Photo brhther.

What I love about trees is the diverse varieties and the way they provide such an amazing usefulness to the planet, for instance, we get medicines from them, they bear fruit (food), produce oxygen for us to breathe, give homes to thousands of animals and birds species, and on a very hot day, provide amazing shelter, (As well as when it rains.), I am not saying we should hug them, but certainly show your appreciation and respect for a core part of Mother Nature.

Thoroughly enjoyed the description given by @maryresp Lungs of the Earth

We benefit so much from forests, we tear down regions without thinking twice for human's to live or plant, never taking into consideration what we are destroying @socialmediaseo

Wow its a really great information. I never know that Aloe type of tree is also there in this world. The tree look really artistic.

They are artistic, with a look of their own, with recent drought I have noticed more people are planting indigenous trees in our region @dhaneshpk

i dont see this kind of tree in the Philippines.

No @artchielines you may find nurseries sell Aloe Vera, a much smaller plant, that you are able to grow in a pot in warm area where it does not get too much water as a house plant.

I never knew that aloe is a tree!! I have always seen them in potted plants, my aunt especially grew them to brew hair tonics that she sells in her salon. I hope one day I will be able to see one of those. Here in my city I don't think there are any old trees, most places are already built and the trees are new and young ones that are planted around the city.

Your aunt must have had the Aloe Vera plant, it has so many uses, a great indoor pot plant, loves a sunny spot and not too much water @fleurinna

Interesting trees you're showing us each week @joanstewart, appreciate the little facts that go with them!

Through photography I started to ask more questions about the trees around us @lizelle something we will never learn enough about, we look at them, take it for granted the trees will always be there.

Sadly the big one in the Amanzimtoti Library gardens died off recently, only portion (perhaps an off-shoot) is now starting to grow close to where the original stood.

This is very informative post. Who would have thought that the biggest Aloe Vera will be in your photographic crosshairs.

The big tree aloe makes a wonderful display of being original in it's own rights @mdominicorobin thanks for visiting.

nice post

Wow! I hadn't seen those before - didn't know they existed. But they are so beautiful!

muy buen post

It is interesting to see how these trees bloom :) Thank you for the interesting information @joanstewart

Flowers are very pretty during the winter months @madlenfox thanks for visiting.

I love these aloes. We have two in the garden - both young and really small by comparison.
