I'm always glad to see a living, healthy tree, but decay or death is also a part of the life cycle.
In a real forest, you can find trees that have already been dried. They may be a sad sight, but give food and shelter to many living creatures, like beetles and ladybugs. If you're cold, you can gather dry wood and light fire. I sometimes collect dry branches and make rattles and drumsticks of them.
If you cut a tree, its root usually can not grow tree again.
