High above the St. Lawrence River and just outside the walls of old Quebec City and its fort, are the Plains of Abraham where the decisive battle was fought between France and Britain over the fate of New France. To make a long story, short, the British won.
The battle, fought in September 1759, is known as The Battle of the Plains of Abraham (after a local farmer named Abraham Martin who owned the land) and also the Battle of Quebec.
It's a beautiful tree with the fort in the background, and if you have been wondering where I have been lately, now you know. I'm home again and uploading a ton of photos from old Quebec City.

History is pretty funny sometimes. I just posted the first day of my big tour of Old Quebec. There is a photo of some of the plain in it.
