The Old Dog Explores: When Trees Attack! Tree Tuesday

in treetuesday •  7 years ago  (edited)

Trees Are Attacking Worldwide!

The opening in the tree looked like a mouth that had surrounded its "prey" and was about to swallow it whole! It appears to be a tray of approximately 20 inches (50 centimeters) in diameter and about 3/4 of it has already disappeared into the tree!

The tray has the logo of the Feldscholssen beer company written "Birra" in Italian. I wrote an article about their fabulous factory which I visited in July of 2017

I saw this anomaly last week as I was coming home from work. It would seem that someone placed the tray in an opening in the tree many years ago and that soon the poor tray will be "gone". This phenomena is more common than one might first think. Many have seen photographs that circulate around the internet of a bicycle that appears to have been devoured by a tree!

Here is a Famous Metal Eating Tree!

Photo Credit: This is the famous "Bicycle Eaten by A Tree"  which is found on Vashon Island in Washington State. The "real story of how it got there can be found here!

Is Eating Metal Harmful to Trees?

According to my limited research on the subject Metal placed into a tree should not harm it if it is healthy. The metal object will not get higher in the tree as it grows but because the tree grows a new layer of wood just under the bark every year eventually it will "swallow" whatever object is placed in it!

Questions For You!

  • Have you ever seen a tree that seems to be eating something?
  • Do you feel sorry for the tree?
  • Can you take a photograph of what you have seen? Please share it with us!

I hope that you enjoyed this article on "When Trees Attack!"

Thanks for sharing those. Incredible!

Greats finds!

Yes, I've seen some attacks of trees. The most recent I saw was this, I guess the tree is trapping the building. Be aware! ;)

DSC_1688.JPG

Oooh very cool and very scary!

Ahah, did you had nightmares with trees chasing you?! ;)

It's amazing how something big and solid as a tree can adapt his path to raise even if there's something on his way. I do remember that near a school in Bellinzona they placed a bench just near a little tree probably a lot of years ago. Bad choice! :D

Yes indeed the trees are amazing!

Amazing things can be done by trees over time. Mother nature cannot be stopped!!!!!!!

Wow! Good one. Lets have a look again in another 100 years!

Amazing!!!

It is kind of unbelievable and the comment section is burning lol !

Yes it is eerily creepy!

That is a new way to feed iron to your tree! lol These are very interesting photos for tree Tuesday, @kus-knee!

Yes the trees do need iron!

Interesting that someone would have the vision of the actual turn out in their mind of such an action! They did it for the outcome and enjoyment years later. People and their artistic imaginations right? Kool though none the less............

Yes it is something very strange to see!

Very interesting post . good work.

Yes the poor tree has been altered but in return it is a celebrity!

I saw like this ...........but it's little more thanks for your shootinng @kus-knee

Thanks s lot for having a look!

This amazing forest is located in Poland near the town of Gryfino. It is called "Crooked Forest" or "Drunken Forest". 400 pines that grow curved just towards the north were planted in the 1930s. Nobody knows until now why they are so growing. Some say that there were strong winds and they twisted the trees, someone says that they planted specially for furniture. The most interesting of the versions is that the breeder decided to plant a forest where people could not get lost, so everyone is bent to the north, but the second world war prevented him from fulfilling the idea.

That is really cool. Thanks so much for sharing!

Wow, that is really amazing looking! It looks at the bottom like they aren't even planted but just sitting on the ground. I'd love to see this!

We need to feed the trees, they see that they need stronger food :)

What would you suggest. A Car perhaps?

Truck ;)

Woohoo,,,,,,, unbelievable captures of tree attack. After long time tree will be huge and then embossed attacked object. Nice decorated looking. I think thats magical gift of nature.

THE KILLER TREE THAT WHORE THE BICYCLE

I'm really scared!

Wow very beautiful photography and great post
Thanks @kus-knee
Have a nice day

Do you really think so?

Really cool pic of the tray! I had seen the bike pic before - so crazy! We used to live in Texas and had a tree that had "swallowed" some barbwire. It was pretty interesting looking, but I don't think I ever got a picture of it. I'll have to keep an eye out for trees that have swallowed items around here in Panama. I bet there are a few. If those trees could talk... Thanks for the post! :)

Wow, you're in Panama. Ever meet up with @hilarski?

Nope, he's in Panama City which is about 8 hours from us and we rarely go there unless we're doing some government paperwork or flying in or out. :) I have seen him on here though!

Enjoy the good weather but I guess Texas wasn't half bad for that either!

We live in the mountains where it is eternally Spring-like weather. It's lovely. Texas had 100+ at times, snow in the winter. We definitely love the weather here. :)
