Russia - Mining Bitcoin does require a very high computing power, but what this scientist does is outrageous. He mines Bitcoin using a super computer used in a nuclear weapons laboratory.
The unidentified scientist is trying to use a lab-owned super computer that has the power of 1 petaflop computing to mine Bitcoin. Supercomputer is actually used to simulate testing nuclear weapons design.
Fortunately, for the sake of security, it is designed for a computer not connected to the internet, so the scientists have to connect to the internet to conduct mining bitcoin. This certainly makes the laboratory security directly aware of this.
The laboratory is located in Russia, called Federal Nuclear Center in the city of Sarov, western Russia. This is a very tightly guarded facility, and also where the Soviet Union designed its first nuclear bomb.
In an official statement of the nuclear research center, they acknowledge their offense the use of computers in the facility, specifically for private purposes, including mining bitcoin, as quoted from Ubergizmo, Monday (02/12/2018).
There was a scientist who tried to do so, and has now been arrested and submitted to the Federal Security Service. Prosecution has been addressed to the scientist, although not yet revealed how many scientists are involved in this case.
