"This coinage, how come? Whose idea?she asked.
Bubus and Zuby smiled at her mischievously.
She sat at table with her family after returning from the visit to her in-laws.
Tuesday 26th December had seen friends and family come together, to witness the traditional marriage of Ikechukwu and Ugochi's first child Aijay (Ijeoma).
Much as the Iyk-Onumahs had wanted a simple event, the attention their loved ones gave to the event made it otherwise. Their little home at Obazu-Mbieri had been blown up with so much joy and celebration.
It further was a Reunion of long-time friends and colleagues.
"Ugochi, I meela Ihe a mbu (have you done this before)?" The MC asked. The Bride's mother shook her head in reply and with that, the MC directed her to welcome her guests and in-laws in his own style. She was accompanied by her friends of many years ably led by Lady Joy, her co-wife, wife of Ikechukwu's eldest brother - Dee Emma.
Shortly after, the Bride came forward with her train to do likewise.
The climax of the event was the "search" for the husband. As with such events, the women 'stole' the show and the men remained in the background until this moment when the bride's father was seen and heard.
Ijeoma lived through to her name as she eventually presented the young man by name Uchenna to her father.
Ikechukwu then blessed them not just as her father but as the Reverend he is. More blessings ensued from Rev. Blessing Osuji the first Uncle Ijeoma knew at birth. Lastly, Uchenna's uncle, Frank Anunibe, the Evangelist spoke the words of blessing which the Biblical Rebecca received at marriage.
Thereafter was cutting of the cake and dance to the admiration and well-wishes of the guests.

Marriage is an honour; much to be desired.
Congratulations Uchenna & Ijeoma on your new status.

This beauty here is a woman of substance. Known her for not so long but have enjoyed the pleasure of people mistaking us for sisters due to similarities in our facial features. I got to know her via my bestie "Twinnie" and I don't regret. She might not know this, but she became an inspiration before I ever met her. So young...true, but so focused. A lovable gem. She has been like a mother hen to all 3 of "US" .....tolerating our excesses. Then my twinnie said we would be coming to his village for an occasion. Careless me, never asked what the occasion would be. Then he said "my sister's trad". Even if we were still in Dubai, the distance wouldn't have kept me away from witnessing this precious gift from God saying a traditional yes to the luckiest man bold enough to want to wake and walk beside her. If he thinks he isn't truly lucky.....then he needs to halt and look into the mirror called "Earth"....and then he will find a million ways to be grateful.
