GO GREEN

When i was young i never cared and gave much of a thought for environment. I used to see on TV and hear on radio the phrase(GO GREEN) as it was gaining a lot of exposure but i paid less attention . When i was in college studying Hospitality Degree there was a mandatory subject of Environment studies for all students. That was the time when i became very much interested in environment as it involved basic human everyday interaction with the environment and the complex problems created and the measures taken to solve those.

I used to read articles about it often and my interest got deeper when i graduated and started working for a reputed hospitality company in Boston, MA,USA. It happened that i had to attend a seminar from my company about energy efficient programs to be adopted in the hotel buildings and those seminars happened every month . These seminars had that phrase GO GREEN. It gave me an in depth knowledge about our everyday practices that can have impacts on environment.

Boston ,the wonderful city is so much committed to environment and going green. Slowly i saw some hotels and companies started going green and investing in it . They adopted a lot of principles of saving energy . The investments were made in technology where maximum energy will be used during peak business hours and during off hours least energy is used . In someway it is a commitment to save our environment and getting green. I made a research along with that team and we all invested in regenerated elevators where the energy lost is captured and stored by the motor during off peak loads and sent to the power grid and reuse it again. This was an energy saving strategy as the HVAC system need not be offset. With this techniques we got the Green Building certificate and it was labelled on most of our marketing websites and it was surprising to see our customer base increased by 18%since then to more than 30% till date.

We made a lot of attempts to reduce, minimise and reuse the energy and be committed to it. We went LED everywhere and thus being cost / energy efficient as well. I was totally involved to see the cost saving techniques and at the same time we were committed to environment.

I bought a new house and i was all excited in the interior decor , painting , furniture , yard etc. Once i settled in my new home i gave a thought of adopting energy saving techniques at home as well. I saw on the town’s website about their energy saving programs and Go Green Home. So i registered for the program and the energy officials came for an inspection. The town is so much committed to green and energy savings they had a complete energy audit and replaced LED everywhere and gave a report on replacing some appliances with energy efficient ones and the town gives rebates on electric bill for using energy efficient appliances . THATS GREAT!!!!!!!

So that's how i got completely involved and committed to environment and energy savings. I hope many people get committed and involved to this great cause to save our planet.
