Hey, Hey, Look at Trending!

The Trending page looks really nice.

  • They removed the ugly pinned posts
  • We have a balance of rewards on thee top posts
  • They are all recent posts.

Regardless of whether or not you love this content there is no question this is moving in the right direction.

For the 13 week power down I"ve made a decision to stick with Steem, because it takes no action to stay where I am. I'm looking forward to a point no one's stake is frozen and the majority of effort and conversation is on the future and not on yesterday's battles and politics.

I am seeing movement in that direction.

Many have been trolling it a bit and I get why, I really like the 100 days of Steem movement. I like seeing a lot of people I didn't know before.

I like seeing the price remain steady...

9ish weeks left to go, I'm seeing improvement..

The milking from the Hive team is reducing each week.

There is a feeling of hope and excitement recently. The more who decide staying here is worth it the easier the good fight will be. Missed ya last night , hope to see ya at the next Steem Witness Forum.

I was outside enjoying a beautiful evening and forgot. I was sad when I thought about it today. I absolutely want to attend.

The trending page did't look like today for years.
Hive trending? d
Disaster.

Where are the comments though? Looks like people just follow the big votes. Not very social.

How many of them have sends to appreciator ;D

I'm not even checking. I always thought buying votes was bad for Steem and it's still going one. Less of it on 4ive (can I mention it?) so far.

I had a quick look and they are selling votes. The stake that is used is Freedom's -hostage stake. it is all a bit LOL.

Look at this post! It depends from one to the other.

This post is definitely not typical. Trending rarely seems to be community driven as the whales will decide who gets there. I see some people buying sizeable votes to get up there. I don't flag them any more on Steem. Not my problem any more.

We are still regrouping, people are still figuring out who is left and what direction to take.

The movement is growing, but overall you are clearly right. The Hive group has been crossposting, milking and interfering as well. As their influence declines, we are starting to find out who is here and interested on giving it our best shot for a while.

I wonder what you will be left with when the Hive crowd move on. The community and how they engage is as important to me as the rewards.

It is hard to resist baiting Steemit with their vacuous posts :) I guess I could get frozen out if I take it too far. I'll get on with powering down.

Oh, and censorship still stinks!

Keep Steeming on.

Freezing people's assets sucks, censoring people sucks... suing people sucks.

So much stinking...

Who knows what will be left.

by the way, I'm powering down on both sides, but I am not leaving for 9 weeks and maybe not then if things start to be handed back to the community.

While I disagree with much of what is happening, I also understand SteemIt, Justin, feels the need to protect himself from a hostile group that touched his stake pre-emptively.

Hive feels more like a github (linux forum feel) whereas this feels more like a social network. To each their own, but the two chains are starting to go their own ways which is good.

Hive Trending looks exactly how it always did. lol. I like this better.

Lets keep moving forward.
We've already lost tons of times. No need to look back them anymore.

I like what I see now and I feel kind of calm.
I'm also surprised that many were a little patient and waiting.
It looks like we needed the tough fight

It is nice to see things calming down. I think many will choose the side that rewards content, engages users and it's full of drama.

Hi @whatsup I saw your post being promoted on steemworld.org site. I came here from there. hehe.. yeah the trending post looking more diverse now. Good sign. I noticed a lot of new faces in #introduceyourself tag too.

Hehe nice, it seems to work... ^^
Now I can send you all to wherever I want... 😇

This is so cool, imagine you could charge for this and by the way, I could have paid a few bucks for this placement, more if it lasts all week!

Very cool!

Thanks for the bucks! I was just playing around with it and your post and title fit perfectly ;)

i am interested in posting something there on https://steemworld.org how to proceed thanks

Carefully!

yess this one is nice @beemengine btw

Wow, @steemchiller friend, this option seemed great to me, I was able to get to this publication thanks to that announcement.

It is an excellent way to publicize some publications. to place an advertisement like this, how do you do it? manually or is there a bot that does it?

I hope I can be there, with some publication of mine ..
Greetings friend. Thank you.

For now it's manually and I'm playing around with it a bit. Would be nice to have a way for users to promote their posts by booking the space directly on the page in future. I will see what I will come up with.

i can help in dev if needed would be more than happy to contribute

🤫 😉

Ups - hadn't even realized there was text there ;) Sorry, will pay attention in the future...

Many Steem users (including me) use Steemworld on a daily basis. The small square is actually a premium space to promote great posts.

Well done!

Hey, @whatsup.

I really like the 100 days of Steem movement.

I like the idea of it, and so far the implementation, particularly the challenges since it gives us all something we can post about that has a good chance of being seen, and not just by the steemcurator account.

I have noticed a decrease in upvotes all around, and not just on the ones that could be referred to as milking. With the curation trails that were here largely moving over, along with a significant amount of the higher SP accounts, that's leaving those of us who are still trying to make a go of STEEM to curate and upvote. So, for a bit, anyway, other whatever help the steemcurator accounts might provide over the next while, it's going to take more of us curating the content that we like.

re: frozen stake

Me, too, on both chains.

Yes, to everything you said. We need to develop curation accounts again.

"For the 13 week power down I"ve made a decision to stick with Steem, because it takes no action to stay where I am. I'm looking forward to a point no one's stake is frozen and the majority of effort and conversation is on the future and not on yesterday's battles and politics."

I think i'm with you. We do have some clean up to do eg., discuss how to decentralize the governance further, what to do about steeminc's stake going forward etc. but seems like we have taken the right first step.

This has also been an opportunity for me to find and connect with existing users that i havent met before. It's been pretty refreshing.

I totally agree there is more work to be done. I am starting to wonder if the split wasn't a blessing is disguise. I'm enjoying steem again.

Improvements definitely start to be seen!! Week by week, it's going to be better!
@tipu curate

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 16/20 - need recharge?)

I'm just still curious why anyone's stake was frozen in the first place... and what the mysterious 'attack' is that is spoken about? 👻

In my opinion there is no justifiable reason to touch anyone's stake ever.

It was an attack or a hostile take over IF you feared new stakeholders who owned stake.

i had muted most on trending so it had a different look. maybe time to unmute?

It's looking great!

I believe both blockchains will follow a trend of distance each day passing by. Right now on Hive nothing exciting happens and is mostly the status quo.

I agree, they will grow apart over time, and people will be able to pick what works for them

I agree with you. It takes time and albeit moving slowly, but we are certainly moving forward!

We can see who is rallying around Steem on this post alone.

The powerdown period is very long so if STEEM can get somewhere and will get updates constantly it's possible to just power it all up again and be back in no time.

Absolutely. Currently, I have a partial power down on both chains. Shouldn't they compete for investors? :)

Those who are just following others around out of loyalty deserve whatever they get.

This is the correct play.

BTW I notice that a lot of the trending posts have no comments after several hours. People need to be social and not just chase curation rewards.

agree

Yeah, I agree. That is an important goal, first we have to sort out who is just milking for the next few weeks and who is intrested in building this thing.

What do you mean by milking?

Those how are trying to extract as much out of Steem as they can on their way to hive, because they feel entitled to take on the very behaviors they fought agasint before.

Hmmm...ok. It's just kind of weird because on the other hand, as long as I have known you on the here I always thought you advocated for people to use their stake however they felt was right.

I get what you're talking about, I guess. I saw that darthknight was doing some comment selfvotes, so I could go along with considering things like that milking. However, I can't lump crossposting in on that. Many of us hold stake on both platforms. Why would posting on one stop is from posting the same content on others? Many here make youtube videos and post on Steem. Would that also be considered milking?

As for me, I will continue posting my content on both platforms. Some folks are here only. Others are there only. Many are both, as am I. I would be a fool not to be not to utilize both platforms regardless of how I decide to distribute my stake between them.

I have no problem with decent people cross posting!

And I do advocate for using stake how one likes. But it was clear some are literally trying to mess the place up.

That's exactly what I noticed today as well. Finally the trending page is starting to look decent. On the other hand the hive one is starting to look a bit like the old steem one. I honestly don't want the bad for neither platforms. I feel that there is room for plenty of such platforms and that's mass adoption. The more the better.

By choice or default we are all invested in both! So, I agree... I hope they both do well and I also hope they both develop their own personalities

Well that's an improvement. Looks like they finally woke up. Meanwhile other accounts are still censored, which is not so good. The petty vendetta of Steemit against the former community witnesses makes them look very bad. That is part of why I can no longer recommend the platform to anyone. Sad, but true.

I'm don't like it either and also would not recommend anyone buy in until that gets resolved.

I also on the other hand have very little sympathy for those who don't like having their stake frozen, but think it is okay to freeze other's stake.

I can understand it from JSun's perspective, but I agree... it's not a good look.

There's this tit for tat argument going around, but the witnesses did unlock Justin's stake. He was first to say that locking it was wrong, so it looks hypocritical for his puppet witnesses to do it. Let's not pretend they have any independence.

Once I've powered down I'll probably stop checking on Steem. With my limited time I have I focus on where the better community is.

Wishing you all the best.

You too!

I'm glad those pinned posts finally went away. They were getting a bit too "stale" for my liking.

I'm in no particular hurry to make some "either/or" declaration concerning the two chains. I expect they will develop their own personalities. I'm a content creator, not a politician... if I can fit into a niche both places I will; if one place ends up taking off a great deal more than the other... I'll direct my energy at where the activity is happening.

I think most of us don't want to be caught up in that battle.

Also there are so many gray areas in the arguments, that it hurts my head.

Food for thought.

I'm still waiting for the absence of all those whales to make our votes go up.
The whale experiment proved it's an instant result of no whale voting.
Somebody is still sucking it up.

Oh yeah, just because they can't be seen on the front end doesn't mean they aren't milking as hard as they can.

Each week if they are true to their word it should be reduced.

I wish I could say something positive about that, but they seem to be replaced by others equally, if not moreso, greedy.

I'm still of the opinion that dumpers, especially at this price, should not be getting rewards voted to them.
We are cutting our own throats when we do that.

Must be lonely on top... No one coming by to write a comment, not even to say something like "nice pictures!" or make a comment about the Splinterlands-cards.

That's the worst thing about the blockchain (be it Steem or Hive) - how can we talk about being a community if we don't talk to each other? Getting no votes isn't fun, but looking at posts with no comments, wouldn't we all prefer for some people to have left half of their vote and wrote something instead?

Actually been seeing much better rewards on authors that have been overlooked for quite awhile. Not myself, seems I'll always stay that way bwahahahahaaa! But, I was not a huge fan of the .8888 so have backed off a bit until some more democratic things are put in place. I'm powering down a little over half, but not because of Hive. A stimulus check isn't going to cut it.

The trending is nice because we can find there regular steemians not only those whith power. The content matters !

What is interesting is that nearly all of them are pushed up by people moving to hive or, by appreciator which has 6.7M SP to vote with, 6.5M of which comes from @freedom - a frozen account.

nods, lots of interesting things. At least it isn't covered with the same 10 people every day!

Appreciator are also selling votes - yay for the return of bidbots!

not only that, they aren't transferring to Freedom either -

image.png

Not bad Curation Returns for them using hostage stake.

Perhaps they are keeping Freedom's earnings safe - until the account is unfrozen...

Won't be long until the same ten are there again (different to the last ten) - guitar guy and Joe might make a return - just like old times.

  ·  5 years ago (edited)

new users too!
https://steemit.com/@coldblood

edit - $307 in coming rewards - the account has 4 followers.

LOL, yep.. that's ridiculous!

Getting bolder with the sends, it won't be long until the same ten whoevers are there - like mid-2017 to late-2019 all over again.

You are probably right.

if so, the difference is that there won't be much resistance to it and no will to change it.

Totally forgot there was a "trending" page. I never looked at it for the last 12-18 months because the posts could either be bought with bid bots or it was the same accounts posting the same steem centric stuff. Truth be told, I don't look at trending on any social media site, Twitter, Facebook etc.

I am only interested in the people I follow and what's in my feed so if someone reposts/shares something and I see it and it looks interesting, I'll have a look. Plus I don't even know how to see the trending page on steempeak anyway haha!

I'll keep posting on both for the time being as I'm a music producer so who knows where that next Drum & Bass fan might be lurking? 😃

@whatsup hey ! what's up !

I have lots of friends here at steem too @whatsup and will just use steem as a social blog site and not get involved in its politics. I also hope that the bring up the "hot" tab again @justinsunsteemit

I'm glad something happened.. it was frozen with old post for some time now..

This link already expired (?)

Does anyone know why Hive is paying out more than Steem even though Steem is trading higher than Hive?

I would guess less posts, less milking..etc.

Hmmm. I was thinking it might be due to the ninja-mined stake that was no longer in circulation. Or that they altered the pay-out formula.

In the first few days it seemed to me that most people would move to Hive but now it looks like many have either remained or are on both chains. Perhaps as you say, not that many actually moved so there are fewer posts and less money to pay out. I wonder what the actual statistics are?

Votado por el trail @team-mexico

Thanks whatsup for this information,
I believe that the needs of many are met.
Every day I saw complaints about it.

Shrugs. New names, regular posts, nice looking.

I'm not that worked up by who voted them up.

Yeah, you can thank the stake they froze for bringing these "new names" to the top.

haha, yeah, that's probably true. I'm opposed to freezing anyone's stake ever.

But most of those who are frozen... they don't have a lot of room to complain do they?
