Today in Charlottesville, Virginia, a car plowed into counter demonstrators killing at least one person and injuring 19 others. They were there to protest a White supremacist gathering of racists who were there themselves to protest the proposed removal of a statue or Robert E. Lee, the leader of the Confederacy during the second American Civil War.
The Civil war ended 152 years ago, but the fighting hasn't stopped. The country hasn't healed.
Racism is one of the worst qualities of our society. People would rather argue and deny it than admit it exists. People say racism is a thing of the past and having Barack Obama as our former president is their proof while at the same time making jokes such as hanging ornaments on the Christmas tree with his likeness on them an declaring, "Look, it's legal to hang n###ers again," all the while declaring to anyone who will listen that they aren't racist.
This is why they are given the name of Deplorable.
Abraham Lincoln, a president during the civil war said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." With how the country is torn in the middle with animosity, it seems the house is falling.
