Worldwide shoe manufacturing company Nike is now in the process of launching a smart shoe that is linked right to your cellular phone. A $350.00 this shoe should do a lot more than “lace itself “ as claimed by Nike.
“Athletes will be able to update and evolve their shoes with upgrades, new features and services all through smartphone technology inside their footwear," said Michael Donaghu, Nike's vice president of innovation.
While Nike touts this shoe as a "mobile sports research lab on feet everywhere," the shoe currently doesn't provide any data, but the company said that will be coming.
I mean imagine the possibilities of this shoe. On one hand, your shoes could provide you great information about your gait, or hotspots that produce blisters or even the ability to lace up tighter during game play without stopping or calling a timeout. On the other hand who knows what people or groups end up with this information and how might they use it against you down the road. I don’t know about you guys but for me.....I would just rather pay the standard amount for shoes and lace them myself. Then I can spend the extra loot I saved to take me somewhere and use my new kicks.

I'm with you! Every little bit of data that is being gathered about us will probably come back to haunt us sometime in the future.
I don't want to beer stick in the mud, but what kind of imbeciles are we going to how about there in the next generation? First they can only wear velcro shoes because they don't know how to lace them and then they have to buy Nike specials because I never learned how to lace their Velcro. Oh my God, what is this world coming to.
As an aside, why would anybody want to buy these shoes now when they can wait and let them get the bugs out, plus get a little bit of Technology? Do I need to watch that again or did that manual lacer win?
