The 2018 FIA World Rally Championship-2 will be the sixth season of the World Rally Championship-2, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, running in support of the World Rally Championship. It was created when the Group R class of rally car was introduced in 2013. The championship is open to cars complying with R4, R5, and Super 2000 regulations.Pontus Tidemand and Jonas Andersson are the defending drivers' and co-drivers' champions. Škoda Motorsport are the defending teams' champions.
Calendar changes
The future of the Rally of Poland was called into question after the FIA repeatedly raised concerns about the event's safety. The FIA had previously ordered a review of the event's safety standards ahead of the 2017 event, threatening to rescind the rally's World Championship status if conditions were not improved. The event was ultimately removed and replaced by the Rally of Turkey, which returned to the calendar for the first time since 2010.The event will be based in the resort town of Marmaris in the south-western Muğla Province.
Eligible models
The 2018 season will see several new car models become available for competition:
Citroën will make an R5 variation of the C3, known as the Citroën C3 R5.The Citroën DS3 R5 will still be eligible to compete.
Proton will return to international competition with the Proton Iriz R5.
Volkswagen will enter the World Rally Championship-2 for the first time with the Volkswagen Polo R5, the replacement for the cancelled Polo R WRC project.
Driver eligibility
Under rules introduced in 2017, the winners of the Junior World Rally Championship (J-WRC) will receive automatic entries into selected rounds of the World Rally Championship-2 as a prize. This includes the outright winners of the J-WRC and the points leader after every two successive rallies of the 2017 championship.
