Trial by Comics - Star Wars - my entry

in trialbycomics •  7 years ago

Hello Steemians!

Another competition/contest is here, Trial by Comics hosted by @kommienezuspadt.
I'm entering with a short comic and a bit of fun :)

Here is my entry.

Initial idea was sketched in my scrapbook. It's really old notebook that is torn, cut, broken, used and in pretty poor shape. I doodle everything in it and I do all my pencil, fine liner or marker tests.

I got the base idea for my little story there. There were few iterations initially, but I decided to go for non violent one.

I have redone the drawings, changed it a little, added the details. I've used some reference and I can say it became both easier and more difficult at once. I'm thinking more and more of doing things digitally but I honestly dread it.
In the end the images are not in order. I'll have to take care of it, but I'll do that later. I also realize that images are small. :p

Inking. I was nervous about it and I really don't know why. That had pretty much forced me into making several mistakes. I'm not my best self today. I refused to give up and scrap it. And another realization which is also another plus of digital work.

"Color" was added. Yes I've used 2 different grays for the space in the top image. I'm really adding up those rookie mistakes. Well, here it is anyways. I'm not perfect! :p
And part of digital work I hate the most - colors! There are SO MANY!!! And none of them are labeled :(

And now the final story:

It was fun drawing and I hope you'll at least grin or smile! :)

As always, I'll put up new art soon.

Have fun and keep steemin!

That was unexpected at the end :D Proper funny, grin I did!!

It's one brave plush bunny :D
Bravery is rewarded :)

Omg I died of love :3

I'm glad you like it :)

It's Adorable :')

Thank you :)

Nice!!! Are those are hand drawn or animation?

Thank you. They are all hand drawn. I've used pencil. Then outlined images with 0.8, 0.5, 0.2 and 0.1 fine liners. And colored with 1.0 fine liner (black) and warm grey markers.

Awesome, liked it.

hahaha That Needa is so cute.

Yup he definitely is :)

i hope u like it :)

you should enter the contest :)

i just did :)

I think you need to change the tag as well. First one needs to be: trialbycomics
Good luck :)

Cute :-D

Thank you :)

So cute it deserves a resteem.
May the force be with you ^^

Hahaaa! Thank you :D

I really didn't expect the twist in the end... had a good chuckle there :D

That was the point :p

you don't say :P

This is awesome @zneeke! What you can do with a pen and a few markers! And super cute characters, they look great : )

Thank you!
They do look better live and not as zoomed (or maybe it's just me seeing all the flaws). I think next time I'll reduce the size of images a little :)

Drawing looks super funny! I think that I will move to digital this year too. It gives you chance to correct mistakes without repainting everything . I keep asking illustrator on different blogs about tablets that they use.......What tablet and pen did you use ?:) So far I used mouse and it takes so looooooooong to draw and quality far from fantastic.

Thanks. ;)
The plan was to draw few smiles.
I own genius wizardpen 5x4. It's old but it works. It was a gift and I need to use it more and practice.
For vector art I prefer mouse, but for photoshop and painting/sketching I'll need to get used to that pen tablet :)

Thanks. I am looking for good tools that I no need to overpay for:) If tools well performing basic function that probably will be good for me.:) I am not very comfortable with mouse when I do vector , hope pen will do the trick :)

If I would get a new one I would do some extensive research. Check the prices, performance and look for all the available reviews.
It would be best if you could borrow one for a day or two from a friend to test it out. Or at least try it out in the shop if that option is available.
Good luck with your search. I would like to know how it went and can't wait to see the digital art made with it. :)

I do not have friends with drawing tablets but.........I can order a tablet from Walmart and within 10 days return it if I do not like it. I will probably choose wacom A4 format and it will ring about 400.00 bucks with the pen. Plus, I will need to learn how to draw and color in photoshop. I am really scared from this future changes but will willingly go for it. I believe that classical art with pen and brash will be gone very soon and I accept this possibility. "We will adapt"- borg :)

hahahahahaha this is the best comic hahaha super cute lord vader

Thanks :)
Cute and also fun to draw.
