A #tribesteemup biweekly question.
This question has had me at a loss since it was proposed.
Were the question, what is it to be awake, that would have been simple.
I wouldve just pulled out the infowar and how not being aware that rule by force is a suboptimal management technique means that you are losing the battle for your mind.
But the question is to be aware.
I think being aware encompasses much more than being awake.
One can be awake that the fed is a fraud, or that satanists are ruling the planet, but still not be aware that others are just as much people as you, each with their own right to be free from your oppression.
Not being aware that you thinking you are right because reasons, based on the popularity of the idea, or the consensus of your peers, doesnt make you any more right than the person that disagrees with you.
Just because you think its wrong to video yourself in the bathroom nude while confessing cringeworthy truths about yourself doesnt make it wrong for the person doing it.
It is absolutely right for him, or her, or they wouldnt be doing it.
Once its done, its done.
It was right for you to do it, and now you deal with the consequences.
In this case, revulsion by the majority of people aware that you did it.
Ive done things that were right for me to do at the time that are now wrong for me to do.
Im aware of why it was wrong of me to do those things.
Absent having done those things, i would've continued on in my blissful ignorance being an ill-mannered jerk.
But, life made me aware that i was contradicting a fundamental part of being me and that i needed to stop doing those things if my perception of myself was to be the reality.
Not everybody gets that life lesson.
They are blissfully unaware of just how wrong they are.
If you would like to check to see if you are guilty of it, too, just think back and count the times you forced your rules onto others.
Did you stop the toddler from sticking the fork in the outlet?
Did you tell your husband that cheating on you is a deal breaker, and now he just lies to you?
Did you tell the unruly kid to sit down and shut up?
Did you call the laws on that damn unlicensed lemonade stand?
All things likely to cross your path.
You are free to force your judgement of what is best onto others.
I just hope you are aware that you can only decide right and wrong for you.
To force your perception onto others is evidence that you still arent aware.
Which is why I'll never flag someone, but also why steemit will invariably creep towards 100% self-voting.

You have to decide for you.
I flag spam and plagiarism because they diminish my rewards.
Id do the same to the vote buyers, but pragmatism.

I flag spamming bots every chance I get. So annoying they are.

Well said, and well done, also.
As Renoir put it "Everyone has their reasons."
A benefit of realizing this, of letting go of snap judgements of other people, is that you feel much much happier lol.

To have complete control over anyone is impossible, in the end, truth is, you can't force anyone to do anything they willingly don't want to do. The only person you can control is yourself, and even that statement is pushing it... Thanks for this post and your insight to life....
