The Cultivated Apothecary: Week 4 Edition 1: Tincture Round-Up

in tribesteemup •  7 years ago  (edited)

With so many of my medicinal herbs, plants and flowers blooming and having been harvested over the last month, I started my tincture cupboard; which eventually led to my Cultivated Apothecary post series that you have been reading about here.

For this edition of The Golden D Cultivated Apothecary post I wanted to share some of my tinctures. From feverfew to cannabis and lemon balm to raspberry leaf; I have been harvesting like crazy over the last few months gathering and foraging as much as I can because once the flowers, herbs and plants/leaves are gone this summer, I won't be able to continue making the tinctures until next spring and summer.

So the harvest rush is on!

I have invested in some dark brown glass bottles for storage, cleared out a kitchen cupboard and have the notebook all organized for quick and easy reference of which tincture (and salve or oil) is best for which ailment. Which make it so convenient and useful that even Mr Golden D can see what he'd need to use for insomnia, a skin rash or whatever is bothering him.

Currently, I have my stash in three different places. I think it is time to consolidate in one cupboard. Yours is so neatly organised. I am just a wee bit jealous of your organisational skills.

I did too and decided one day to organize the tinctures, the dehydrated herbs, etc and everything else.
next up is the pantry; I'll be starting to preserve and can soon and need to do an updated inventory.

How did I manage to miss this series...well, so glad I came by at the right time :) <333 Thank you for this gem @goldendawne <333 I will be following more closely. Bright Blessings BeautyFull!

THANKS!!! I just started this series a few weeks ago and i am really having fun with it and even learning more than I did before.

I love that you have a cupboard dedicated to the healing plants. I made my annual visit to my 'pharmacist' and came away with some bloodroot salve and some mullein to infuse this winter when I catch cold (notice I didn't say if :))

Thanks for sharing your cupboard. It's a very valuable spot.

OH I know! It keeps me up on the inventory and the notebook of herbs and all their uses really helps me keep track of what to use where and for what.

I can relate to the harvest rush, and trying to get it all done before it's too late....

Oh yes!!
From April (sowing the seeds) to November (canning and harvesting the late vegetables, it's an endless work load.

howdy @goldendawne! you are so organized! I guess with so many herbals you have to be, great job. I wonder how long before you have to find more cabinet space?

How long do you suppose a #Tincture will actually last for?

Tinctures is not my strong point. But then I guess we each have different abilities as well as interests. As much as I think they are amazing I simply don't make them. I finally started my essential oil series @goldendawne! Hope you like it....

Nice post, I to am looking into natural remedies to aliments. I do not trust modern medicine mostly because it uses man made chemicals that only treat the symptoms of a problem instead of the cause. Most doctors I have visited can not even diagnose a problem anymore to any accuracy. Too many sicknesses have the same symptoms, and most of the problems we have today are cause by what corporations have done to our food, water and air. Adding chemicals, extracting nutrition during the processing of foods, and cleaning recycled water. My wife and I have bought a distillery to distill water. we have our own garden so we do not have to buy radiated fruits and veggies. Our meat sources we have cut down to chicken, beef and fish. We have collected books on medicinal plants in the USA, and we plan on putting up a green house next spring to transplant and grow these types of plants. I have recently gone to a good guide book for life that includes information on food, relationships, and life in general. It has fascinating stories and prophecies of what is to come. The Bible is truth and the word of god. If all of society followed this book we would not be in such a mess in this world. Keep up the great work you do and peace to your family.
