Steemconnect, the service being used to verify identity, is run by Steemit, inc. So, it's considered by many to be a safe enough risk. You also never enter your private owner key anywhere, which is the only one that allows for changing of your keys. For the delegation process, you could go reset your keys right after you do it if you'd like, as it is a one-time action, and doesn't need access after that transaction goes through.

I'm all about finding new ways to support communities of freedom-loving individuals who are down with consciousness expansion, and I suppose there's really not all that much damage someone could do with my posting key (I like the idea of delegating SP then changing my keys, but I doubt the half-point I could maybe spare would really help all that much)...I think I'm gonna give the curation trail a try. Long-term, though, there's gotta be a better way to handle this sort of thing; some kind of multisig solution that provides a way for people to delegate authority without having to break the cardinal rule of crypto. Just promise me you won't tell anyone I fell for it if it does wind up being a scam :) - please add me to the list as well

Ya, you want to be building SP until you have minimum 50 or so, if not 500 so you have a voting slider.
The thing is that we're all giving our keys up every time we log into steemit.com, so it's a matter of what's open-source and you can see isn't keeping your info, what's been "safe" so far, and of course the most important part: changing keys when you feel you took an unnecessary risk :-)
I looked over your profile, and at least based on the 4 posts you have, your content isn't quite fitting into the outline that is being used for TSU's voting. I appreciate that you are a freedom-loving human yourself, but the goal is to promote & reward content that is pushing that side of empowerment, health, and giving people the tools to take responsibility in their own lives, and I don't think crypto qualifies, unless the person is really focusing on the tie-in between the tech and philosophy. I'll keep an eye on your stuff though :-)
