Being Aware As Striving For Freedom - TribeSteemUp Question

in tribesteemup •  6 years ago

As soon as I decided to start writing for this question, I heard my baby girl grunt while she's in her walker. I looked at her and said

Honey, if you're going to poop, you need to let me know ok?

She smiled a big smile and waved her hand. I pulled my keyboard and there she goes grunting and sure enough, it's time to run to the toilet.

Early Potty Training

I've been helping my 8-month old poop in the big potty since she was 3 months old.

Yes, you heard it right, 3 months old

Inspired by @quinneaker's post about parenting, I started listening, watching and learning how my baby communicates with me.

I'm still learning. She gives me a warning that she needs the potty. Her 3 siblings call me when she needs to go. Sometimes, I'm too late when I don't pay attention.

What Does Being Aware Mean To You?

It's a skill I'm slowly learning. I started out as an application developer for the corporate world and I developed an ability to zone in and block out noise. It's a good skill but it's detrimental.

But being aware for me is

  • always vigilant
  • watching out for my family and friends
...like a deer with perked up ears

And on some occasions it means:

  • learning, researching, verifying
so you don't end up like a deer caught in the headlights

Ignorance is bliss...

Uhhm, if you say so.

As a family that supports homesteading, gardening, permaculture, organic diet etc etc, we can't afford to be ignorant. We have moments of ignorance or should I say, we were caught unawares. But striving for awareness gives us the freedom to make an informed decision.

Freedom isn't handed to you like free beer. You have to fight for it and what better way to arm yourself than by being aware as much as you can.

great answer @lovenfreedom, I love how everyone has written something slightly different each time.

I agree 100% xx

Thanks! This question definitely has a different meaning for each of us and I'm glad for the thought provoking question. It may start helping not just the tribe but everyone else who would get to read our take on it.
