Finding it hard to find good content? Finding it hard to connect to like minded people? Spending hours looking for great posts but wading through a lot of stuff that doesn't interest you?
When I first started on Steemit, I felt like I was calling out in a cave, the echo of my own voice bouncing back at me. The trending page was intimidating, and I hadn't learn yet that it is best not to look.
The first advice you're given upon arrival is to be part of a community, but how does one exactly do that? I felt like I was knocking aimlessly on doors and getting no reply, or that I couldn't quite figure out what my community was. It felt quite isolating, and despite a #curie vote every now buoying me up and a few early friendships, I was swimming in this vast sea feeling quite alone and found it really hard to find good content as there was just so much stuff on the platform, and a lot of it I didn't like swimming through!
Yet eventually, I started finding people that shared the same interests as me, and more - people that wrote amazing content and seemed to really care about the environment, philosophy, homesteading, meditation, spirituality, eco-topics, veganism. Was this what they meant about finding community? I got accepted as a passenger on the #ecotrain and then as a member of #tribesteemup. Suddenly, I didn't care about the #curie vote anymore. It wasn't what was going to keep me here. It was tribe - a community of people that were far stronger together than they were apart.
Think about the tiny plankton and the minnows versus whales. We don't have as much voting power, and it's hard to earn on the platform without getting whale upvotes. It's disheartening, and makes us what to leave. How many of us have sworn to leave because we weren't getting any upvotes or recognition on the platform?
Lakshmi, my favourite abundance generator
But what if all the tiny plankton together could FORM a whale? What difference would that make to our lives? How can we create abundance by being part of something bigger than our individual selves?
You see, that's how communities work. Individually, we're isolated, swimming around disconsolately with no one to support us. Together, we feel happier, stronger and more motivated to create, learn, connect, grow, and make a a difference. It's not all about material wealth, of course - prosperity here can take many forms, but being part of a tribe on Steemit can also generate a bit of steem for you independently of the whales, and that's a fine thing.
What is Tribe Steem Up, and How You Too Can be Part of This Community
TribeSteemUp empowers everyone that's part of it's tribe - together, we are stronger. We're supported to create content, and we're rewarded for being part of community.
TribeSteemUp was created by @kennyskitchen and you can find his post outlining why he created it here.. As he outlines, it's a community abundance generator, rewarding the little recognised on the Steem blockchain:
By following the #tribesteemup trail, you'll be able to connect with some pretty amazing people creating amazing stuff - and by commenting and interacting with this community, you'll generate abundance for your own content too. Remember you earn curation rewards earn for upvoting content, so you earn too whilst you support others. Give, and you'll receive!!
Following the Curation Trail
- Go to www.steemauto.com
- Enter your Steemit username and private posting key to access the site.
- Select 'SteemConnect' and authorize SteemAuto using your private active key
- Click on the 'curation trail' option on the left-hand menu
- Search trails for 'tribesteemup' (link here)
- Click 'Follow'
- The page will refresh, and you can adjust settings
- Kenny recommends "selecting 'fixed voting weight' & between 11-33% voting weight (the more you manually vote, the lower you want this)"
- Click 'Save Settings'
I did worry it was going to eat up all my votes so I couldn't manually vote, but it didn't, and the great thing about it was that it was already voting on the stuff I'd likely upvote anyway!
You can also delegate to @tribesteemup if you choose - there's more information on that HERE
I'm so incredibly grateful and honoured to be part of the @tribesteemup tribe - I feel inspired and connected and far, far more likely to hang around on this amazing blockchain.
Do drop in on the #tribesteemup tag once in a while - hang out, comment, respond, love, give and celebrate, and you might be surprised - some awesome abundance might come your way.
I'm also totally honoured to be a passenger on the #ecotrain - another amazing tribe of wonderful human beings! Check out this hashtag for some pretty amazing posts permaculture to meditation, environmental issues to food forests - I highly recommend checking out this tag as you're guaranteed of sweeeetness!
Question by someone finding all these steps daunting and is thus confused before they started (and this is the second attempt!): Do you read all the content you vote via Tribesteemup? Do you choose who to vote for?

Nope and nope. Imagine living in a community. Some people you love and want to chat to and give them a big slice of pie every day coz they are GREAT. They return the favour with cups of tea and the like. So good.
There's other folk in this community too... not close mates, but the way it runs, no one misses out. It's fine they have your pie because they'll always give you stuff in return. Win win.
Now, if you are on the outside of this community, and you join the curation trail, you know that this is a good tribe that writes good content, coz that's what the rules are. So when your upvote goes to them, you can't lose.. even on the days you aren't steeming, your vote gets USED so it comes back at you as a curation reward. You know it's going to good ethical creators, right?
You still have some manual voting for some other people too because you set the autovote at the percentage and limit you like and it'll stop when you VP drops below the limit you set for it.
Hence.. abundance generator. You give and receive ad infinitum.
Have I confused you more??
I will check the hashtag every few days and catch up on stuff and read what I want, leave the rest. No dramas.
Inevitably I go to vote stuff and I've already voted anyway. Awesome

I think I am fundamentally opposed to any automated (i.e semi-conscious) system, at least when it comes to creating a new kind of system.... I believe time will be the next money...

Thanks for sharing your story here. I completely resonate with a lot of this. The Steemit platform can be so daunting at first...i didn't start posting or anything during the first month of having a profile... it was all too overwhelming.
But now, I feel so lucky and blessed to have found a few communities of people who share the same ideas and goals, and who support each other, and want growth and success for ALL, not just themselves. I'm glad I've connected with you, and I always look forward to reading your posts. Keep it up!!! You're doing amazing!
Yay #tribesteemup yay #ecotrain yay #SMG and YAY for Lakshmi !!!

Community is so so so so important indeed!
And I feel the sense of community on Steemit is incredibly strong, the way we can all grow together by generating content, curating, etc... everyone wins.
Love it, just wish I could have more power to give more back to the people who support me, including you.
