5 things to do in your second trimester

This article may strike you as odd at first. Why am I writing about the second trimester and not when you just found you are pregnant or the third trimester when you are preparing for the baby's arrival? The answer is simple. This is the transition phase when you finally come to terms with the fact that you are having a baby and you start to show. More so, it is best you do certain things now than when you are almost in the labour room!

  1. Shop

If you didn't think of this now, then should head to the market/boutique. Your bump is growing fast and you would need freer clothes, new underwear and shoes 'cos your feet may have grown a size or two bigger.

  1. Choose baby names

Well, don't wait till two weeks to your due date as many Nigerian parents do. Names are not to be taken for granted. They form part of your child's identity so you had better take your time with it.

  1. Order for baby furniture

If you want a carpenter to specially make something for the baby nursery then you need to get on that as soon as possible. Even if you are ordering online, you really shouldn't cut it too close. Mistakes happen with these things; you know.

  1. Make big decisions

Any life altering decision should be made by now. If you are going to be a stay-at-home mother, when you'll get back to work, whether or not you will exclusively breastfeed, etc. Your baby should come when everything is set, not when you are still confused.

  1. Know all about childbirth

At this point, you should be relatively grounded in what happens during labour, tracking your health, etc.

These are general tips to get you through your second trimester but of course, not exhaustive. Make sure you have your best friend who accompanying you to your physician and you'll be fine!
