In the past, only we both traveled in the Old City, Jakarta. Still in the Trans Jakarta era, using torn tickets, now you have used an electronic card.
Now nearing the end of 2018, we return to the Old City, but not just the two of us, now the three of us.
TOURISM OVERVIEW OF THE OLD CITY JAKARTA
Old Batavia, another name for the Old City of Jakarta, as an important settlement, city center, and trade center in Asia since the 16th century. The Old City of Jakarta is home to several historic sites and buildings in Jakarta. Some of those according to Wikipedia records include the National Archives Building, Chandranaya Building, Jin De Yuan Temple (Dharma Bhakti Temple), Petak Sembilan, Glodok and Pinangsia Chinatown, Sion Church, Jakarta Old Town Tugu Jam, Jakarta Kota Station, Bank Mandiri Museum, Museum of Bank Indonesia, Standard-Chartered Bank, Kota's Pub, VG City Pub, Toko Merah, Cafe Batavia, Jakarta History Museum or Fatahillah Museum (former Batavia City Hall), Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics (former Batavia Court), Fatahillah Square, Replica Batavia Well, Puppet Museum, Kali Besar (Grootegracht), Former Hotel, Nieuws van de Dag, Dasaad Musin Building, Kota Intan Bridge, VOC Shipyard, Syahbandar Tower, Maritime Museum, Fish Market, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Luar Batang Mosque.
The architecture of the buildings inherited from the Dutch colonial period and which are still solid and reminiscent of the atmosphere of the old Jakarta, became the attraction of tourists. No wonder so many tourists who come to visit the Old City, both tourists and foreign tourists.
Among the many Dutch heritage buildings visited are: 1) Fatahillah Museum. This museum is a silent witness to the struggle of the Indonesian people to achieve independence. In this museum there are many relics of Dutch objects that are still kept neat. To enter the museum is quite cheap and usually queues if on holidays. 2) Bank Indonesia Museum. This museum is a heritage of De Javasche Bank, established since 1828. Here we can see a variety of information related to banking in Indonesia. 3) Puppet Museum. This is one of my favorites to go to the Old City of Jakarta. Here we can get to know and see the kinds of original puppets throughout Indonesia. There are even puppets from abroad such as from Thailand, Cambodia, China, to Suriname. Every month at the puppet museum there are puppet shows on the 2nd and 3rd week.
If you want to get around, you can try riding an onthel bicycle for rent by the Kota Tua Onthel Tourism Association. If you like to share photos on social media, beautiful photos are also taken on the bicycle with the background of old buildings.
MODA TRANSPORTATION TO OLD CITY
Since there was a Trans Jakarta Bus, I no longer took the Metro Mini 86 in Lebak Bulus - Kota to go to the Old City. The Trans Jakarta bus can be your mainstay to get there. If you are the same as my domicile around UIN Jakarta, you only have to take an angkot once and get off at Pondong Pinang bus stop, directly take the Trans Jakarta Bus to Harmoni. TransiT for a moment in Harmoni, moved on to the Trans Jakarta bus bound for Kota. Why is the Trans Jakarta Bus an option? Because it's more comfortable and free of traffic so the travel time is faster and costs are cheaper.
But, last Sunday we tried to ride a KRL from Kebayoran Lama station, transit at Tanah Abang station, take a KRL in Bogor, transit in Manggarai and take one KRL ride to Kota station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. KRL can also be your transportation choice to the Old City, besides Trans Jakarta. Trans Jakarta and KRL are indeed favorite transportation for the citizens of the capital city of Jakarta and its surroundings.
The rather uncomfortable ride on a KRL is when at the station. In some stations to switch platforms, we need to go up and down stairs, such as in the Kebayoran Lama station and Tanah Abang station. The inconvenience is not all stairs are escalator stairs. So you need extra energy to bring a three-year-old child and a backpack. Especially at that time the activities of people at the station were quite dense.
Finally arrived at the City station. To go to old city tourism, make sure from the exit of the right station when you get off the KRL. From the station to old city tourism, it's only a 2 minute walk. But unfortunately, the sidewalk is controlled by street vendors and even to the shoulder of the highway. Walking also becomes uncomfortable because it is crammed with pedestrians who are in opposite directions. Is it possible because it's on vacation so that street vendors are given the freedom to master the sidewalk? I have no idea.
MAGIC ART 3D MUSEUM, NEW IN THE OLD CITY OF JAKARTA
In the old buildings of Kota Tua Jakarta, it turns out to present a contemporary side as well. And our tourist destination to the Old City is that, to the Magic Art 3D Museum. In this 3-dimensional museum, we can satisfy ourselves taking pictures with unique paintings. All paintings here are around 100, all of which are hand painted by painters from Korea and Indonesia. The location of the Magic Art 3D Museum is in the Kerta Niaga 1 Building.
In the Christmas holiday yesterday, entrance tickets for adults cost Rp. 80,000, students Rp. 60,000, and free for children under 4 years. To enter the Museum, visitors must not bring food and footwear to be removed. The museum manager provides a place to store goods and provides special clean slippers to enter the museum, maybe the purpose of keeping it from being unwanted on the painting, because there are several 3D paintings on the floor.
Don't forget, make sure the phone's memory is enough, full cellphone battery, and if possible bring a power bank, because here you will be drunk photos with various poses. And if you are confused to choose the right angle, don't worry, there is a museum officer who is ready to become your potographer. On the museum floor there are also signs and sample images and styles to take pictures on the front side of each painting. This sign is a foothold so that the results are maximum.
This season's area is quite wide consisting of two floors which are divided into several painting zones including Painting Zone, Animal Zone, Ocean Zone, Routine Zone, Dinosaur Zone, Adventure Zone and Horror Zone.
In addition to exciting photos, posing with 3D paintings, there is also a unique room, one of which is mirror maze. We tried to get in there, there was only minimal lighting. This room is a labyrinth surrounded by glass, before entering we are given a kind of small stick. This stick serves to feel each side of the labyrinth so as not to crash because all the walls are mirrored.
If we have entered the labyrinth, we can hardly guess the position of the mirror wall, if we are not careful walking can crash.
After getting out of the mirror maze maze, seeing the little one look tired, we decided to go straight home. Actually almost the return program was delayed because we were interested in trying to ride the free level bus to Monas. But seeing the queue so out, we decided to keep going home.
See you in the next exciting story
