Today (30th April) was raining all day. But there was still a lot we could do.
We stayed around Matsuzaki today, going to temples, an old western style school and an old abandoned hotel, which was actually quite interesting.
The main shrine in Matsuzaki is Inashimo Shrine, quite a nice place, with a tiny museum too.
There's a temple across the road which has a museum in it too.Its called Johkanji temple.
Just around the back of this temple is a foot hot spring, which was the hottest I've ever been in! If you don't move the water around with you feet, then you can just about bear it, but if the water moves around its too hot for humans.
The hot spring is behind the little pool in this picture, by the way.
Next we stumbled across an old abandoned hotel, which is usually closed but, because of Golden Week it was open. It used to be an old Japanese house, then a place for making silk, then finally a hotel. Very atmospheric in the rain.
Finally we went to an old school over 100 years old. The ticket price was not too much and it was mildly interesting.
The rest of the day we just spent driving through the rain and eating the fresh fish of the area. There's some really nice little fishing villages in west Izu.
Nice relaxing day.
