The first of May 2019 is the first day of the new era in Japan called Reiwa. More importantly, it finally stopped raining today!
Theres a zoo near Matsuzaki, it features monkeys. Its quite expensive at 700 yen, and on the road that leads to the zoo, we saw a large group of them on the road, so we decided not to pay to see the monkeys too...

Afterwards, we went to Mera and explored the bay. There's some really beautiful scenery here.

Then further on around Izu peninsular is the Ryugu sea cave. Years ago, apparently, it was considered a pretty scary place to go by the locals, but recently, thanks to Instagram etc. its become really popular. Its free to see, but all the car parks in the area now charge 500 yen. Worth a look.

There's a slanted beach next to the cave where you can sled down (a sled costs 300 yen to rent...)

Next up, another small fishing village, I already forgot the name, but here's a nice picture of the surrounding coast...

Finally that day, we went to a really nice onsen in Matsuzaki, its very scenic, outside, but there's no soap or shampoo, so bring your own. It was only 500 yen, nice and cheap for a hot spring. Its called Osawa-sou, you can stay there in a small hotel pretty cheaply too.
