This Sunday, after the craziness of the hot spring festival on Saturday evening and because the weather was so nice, we decided to go to East Izu.
We left Yugawara and headed for Atami, which was so busy, there were festivals there that day and fireworks in the evening, so it was packed. Changing trains at Atami, we went to Jogasaki Kaigan Station in Izu and headed for the coast.
First we saw a nice temple by the sea, there were so many scuba divers nearby, its obviously a good place for it in that spot.
Right next to the temple is Izukaiyo park. There's a New York Lamp and Flower museum there, it was expensive to go in, so we didn't. We wanted to see the beautiful coast and the bridge nearby.
Walking along the coast path, we saw some terrific scenery, the cliffs and the blue sea and sky were really vivid contrasts. There was a team of rescue people looking for a body, a lighthouse and the famous bridge where most of the people in the area were.
Returning to the museum where the infrequent buses to the station leave from, we had a really nice summer fruits and ice cream thing (600 yen) and waited for the bus. There are many car parks there too, if you want to come by car.
Back at the station again we found a nice ramen restaurant nearby and ate there, then were lucky enough to catch the sightseeing train back to Atami (for no extra cost than an ordinary train).
A really nice day out.
