There are a lot of people out there that aren't terribly smart. As a redneck I am very aware of the fact that there are a lot of people in my community that get "duped" just as easy as any other demographic, perhaps more often. Every now and then I will encounter a page that has a bunch of raging comments in response to the topic at hand and one of them has a community that a lot of the members, including me, are in on the joke.
It is truly remarkable how many people take it seriously and devote a lot of time to their well-thought-out responses to a completely made up scenario.
It's called Journalistic Excellence Worldwide and everything they post is meant in jest but the admins and the 36,000 members are all in on it. The members post responses in support of whatever nonsense they have come up with that particular day and then the people unfamiliar with what is going on, especially those that try to make everything political, jump in the conversation only to get "attacked" by dozens of members who are pretending to be in support of whatever it is that they are talking about.
I don't think you really need to be massively intelligent to realize that this is all a joke, but it's a good social experiment to identify the people that really just don't have a clue. Even the name of the group is a joke as Journalistic Excellence Worldwide is the acronym "J.E.W." but this is never directly spelled out.
Some people think that trolling is mean and / or a waste of time but when this many people get together on it it can have really funny results.
One of their latest pranks involves using their entire stimulus check to donate to Joe Biden's presidential campaign, which they clearly did not do but so many comments are in there about people that are outraged that someone would abuse their government handouts in such a fashion and then hundreds of members jump to the defense of a completely made up situation.
It really is a lot of fun. Complete waste of time, I realize that, but hey! We all got to pass the time somehow.
So if you are one of those people that still uses Facebook to a certain degree I suggest you do not use your time wisely, and instead participate in a completely made up political discussion over on Journalistic Excellence Worldwide.
