True fasting: Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear. Isaiah 58:8

The prophet Isaiah showed us the way to the true spirituality. What useful is religiousness if human beings have lost the fear of God? the prophet tells us in his book.
The fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, and stability) is a bond of the heart towards God, and whoever fears God pleases him, because "common sense" comes from this gift, and it is because of this "common sense" that men live according with the ethical laws established by God.
When men lose the fear of God, only masks, appearances, and the hardness of the heart remain.
This is how the prophet began his teaching, denouncing rebellion and lack of fear of God in men:
"Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people their rebellion
and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.
For day after day they seek me out;
they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right
and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions
and seem eager for God to come near them.
´Why have we fasted,´ they say,
´and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?´" Isaiah 58:1-3.
In his book the prophet spoke to us about true and false fasting, and taught God's will on this issue, true fasting takes into account the needy, the oppressed, orphans, and widows, ultimately fasting is a relationship spiritual not only with God but also with our neighbor:
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?" Isaiah 58:6-7.
Because the Lord blesses everything that comes from a good heart, fasting blesses the man who proceeds with the truth; so the prophet announced the beatitude for all those who practice mercy and love God:
"Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I" Isaiah 58:8-9.
