My story part 3 after Bruces' death onto my fathers part 1 of 2

Bruce who in the previous story was mentioned as the prominent father figure since my actual father was never really in the picture. Bruce died when I was 10 years old and I had no memories of my own dad. Well coincidentally not long after my father figure died my actual dad came to visit me and reintroduce himself into my life. I am now just barely 11 and my father contacted my mother saying that he had begun to pull his life together. He told her that he had found a woman who he wanted to spend his life with and he wished to see me. My mother wary of the situation seeing as he was a unique individual who's true intentions were never clearly apparent to say the least reluctantly agreed. Not long after my father and his new girlfriend came into town to see me despite what appeared to be earnest intentions and my mother remained on only agreeing to a supervised visit.

I can't recall much leading up to before he arrived besides being excited and confused. It had finally come to the day that he had arrived. It felt like an eternity considering everything that had gone through my mind waiting for the day to come. He stayed at a hotel not far from where we lived. His first night over my mother and I were invited to go to the mall with him next to where he was staying. We went and as we walked around my father kept flashing a stack of money saying I could have anything that I wanted. I wanted my father not material objects so every time he offered to purchase something that had caught my eye I declined and continued walking by his side.
After a few hours and a mall pretzel later we called it a night. He told me that we were going to see each other again tomorrow and I was to meet his new Lady friend. I looked at my mother for confirmation and she nodded soon after our goodbyes we parted ways. I could hardly sleep that night in anticipation of seeing him again. It wasn't so much that I needed him or even missed him more like I had a strong burning curiosity as to who he was and why I had been left by him and the first visit had not solved that. The next day around 5 pm we all met at his hotel him, I and my mother talked in his room as this mysterious girlfriend I had yet to meet was down stairs at the bar. Dad showed me how to play games on the hotel TV before leaving with my mother to meet this woman downstairs to decide if if was a good idea for us to meet or not.
After about half an hour they all came up to the room. I was introduced to Susan for the first and last time. It was decided that there was no harm in this meeting. We all went out to eat at a nearby restaurant. It turned out Susan had a son of her own not much older than I was myself if not a couple of years younger. Her husband was in prison and my dad was a get out of dodge rebound even I could tell that from what I was told still considering how young I was at this point. My father actually paid for dinner a move I was not excepting from the stories I was told growing up about him being a cheapskate and always "forgetting his wallet."
Dinner was about an hour long and he had to leave the next day. We all went back to his hotel and I said my farewell before leaving. Before going he promised that these past couple of days were just the beginning and that I would be seeing more of him in the future to come. He wanted to become a real parent the one he always dreamed of being. I might of just been cynical if I was not proven right but my gut told me that it was never going to happen and this would be the last time I saw him. If only I had know why...
