It’s been just over a week since President Trump and Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un met face-to-face for the first time. After weeks of determining an ideal location for the highly anticipated meeting, the two shook hands and posed for photos on a small island in Singapore.
For many, Singapore may seem like an unsuspecting choice for the meeting. But it’s not that hard to see why Singapore was chosen as a ‘neutral’ location. I mean, when is the last time you heard about Singapore going to war or having beef with any other countries? It’s also one of few countries that have both United States and North Korean embassy locations.
Singapore as a country may be relatively ‘neutral’ about US-North Korea relationship, which has practically dominated headlines since Donald Trump entered office. But does that mean that Singaporean people are neutral, too? Well, we did what anyone curious about this issue would do. We hit the streets of Singapore on the day of the summit to ask the Singaporean people themselves what they thought of the meeting, as well as how they felt about their country being chosen to be part of history in the making.
So, check out this video for insight into how Singaporeans feel about the US-North Korea summit and what it was like being ‘on sight’ on that historic day. Enjoy, and let us know what you think below!
